I hadn't seen/heard much about accidents associated with the Rally in Galveston and hoped there were none this year (tho unlikely), but I got this email today.
Here is your chance to stand up for bikers all over the country.
During the Texas Lone Star Rally, Don Tipton who was the airbrush artist that works for Milburn’s custom paint, was killed on Hwy 146 while going to the Rally. From what I was told, there was somebody driving a PT Cruiser and got onto Hwy 146. He was speeding and was driving erratically. He whipped over into a lane to make an illegal lane change and clipped Don’s bike….he then hit his brakes to make the turn and Don ran into him. So Don was basically hit twice. They charged this guy with ILLEGAL LANE CHANGE.
Like many of us that have co-workers who we consider family, Don was family to Mike Milburn and his staff. They are sickened that this guy gets away with killing a biker and not even getting a slap on the hand for it.
This coming Saturday, November 10th at 2:00 pm Don’s family is having a memorial service for Don. Milburn’s is asking all bikers to attend this service, not only out of respect for a fellow biker, but to show their solidarity and to tell the politicians that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. People think they can do anything to a biker and get away with it. The media has been invited to this service and the family would like to show that we bikers are standing together as “ONE” and that we deserve the same respect on the roads and those that drive cages.
One person can’t change anything but as a group, we can make it happen. This could have been you or a member of your family. Please attend this service if you are able. We have to change the laws. PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANY BIKER YOU KNOW.
Here is all the info:
