Howdey all......I am a VFR rider, 2000 model. I have a question or two. I have this god awfull grinding sound comming from the rear rotor when I move the bike around the garage, there is some were on the rotor, but not anymore that should be there I guess, and there looks like there is plenty of pad on the pads. Does anyone have any Idea about what might be causing this?
Second.
what kind of pads do you recomend besides OEM, and can the rotors be turned.
Thanks

John,
Try pulling the caliper and see if you've gotten a rock or something wedged in there somehow. Sometimes that can happen and cause a noise. Also check to make sure if everything is aligned properly. When you inspect the pads, see if there is an undue amount of glaze build up. If there is, lightly sand it off, lightly scuff the rotor surface, reassemble, then go ride the bike and rebed the rear pads. I had a grinding noise coming from the front of my bike that turned out to be glaze build up from the pads cleaning off rust from the rotors getting wet while sitting (under a cover) in a rainstorm or two. Thaose are the basic things to check. If there's a problem with the linked brakes, I can't help you since I've never gotten to mess with that type of system. I'd check the simple things first of course.

:tab I just installed EBC HH pads on the front of both of our VFR 800's. Love them!! I still use the OEM on the rear though. I used brake cleaner to clean the rotors, then sanded them with 150 grit sandpaper, then cleaned them again. The new brakes feel incredible. However, when pushing the bike around in the garage, there is a slight scraping sound coming from the rotors as if the pads are just barely dragging. I have been told this is normal. Still bugs me though :-|
