I know it's lame not to include a picture - as soon as I figure how to reduce the size I'll post one. That's new - worrying about something being too big. Anyway.....

Started riding in college on Kaw400 (1300$ new), then a Norton 850, and a Kaw 440 LTd, which got me from Md to Pa to Tx to FL, where I was hit by a guy making a U-turn on A-1A in Marathon. Stopped riding for 20 years until the little voice in my head said "it's time".

Flash to 2000. I traded a VW bug and some cash for a '73 BMW R75/5. Which I promptly took down to the frame. Had that powdercoated, heads rebuilt, jugs bored, etc, etc, and wound up with a pretty nice classic ride.
Then I bought an '83 R65 off the net up in Columbus OH, and my 16 yr old son and I flew up and rode it home on the Skyline Dr, Blueridge Pkwy, (missed the Dragon due to a hurridcane....) and Talimena Scenic Dr. 2 weeks of camping and riding! Next a friend talked me into buying an '87 K75C. The kicker is that my wife didn't know about the last 2 until months after I'd bought them. The insurance renewal came in the mail and I didn't tuck it away quickly enough - so I also have new living room furniture and she got a weeks vacation in NYC. I've hung a Sputnick Sidecar on the R75, which slows it down but is oh so much fun for puttering about (also lets you carry CASES of beer to campsites for ralleys).

Other rides have been to NM Taos area several times, central and south CO for a week or two, Fredricksburg for the 3's and ralley, and out to Big Bend for the Alpine loop, River Road and NP. I do like to camp and hike!
I've got two dream trips - one to AK and back (doesn't everyone?), and the other a loop down to the west coast of Mexico, ferry to the bottom of Baja, up into CA and back across the US.

Background - once upon a time Navy pilot, now flying for American (fingers crossed, please), 4 kids and a wife, VW bug and bus. Originally from PA but been in TX for 18yrs now. Mechanically I can strip threads with the best of 'em and have a manual for each vehicle.

VERY glad to have found such an active list and hoping to make some of the rides! As noted I live in Arlington, and am usually off during the week, rather than weekends, so when a nice Wednesday arrives.......

Howdy Randy,

:tab Welcome to the site. We seem to have quite a few pilots here now, commercial and private. One of the local pilot guys, Kevin, has a beautifully restored 66' R60/2 with a sidecar. Nice rig! I think he has around 160K miles on it

Adios,
