Hi guys, first let me say it's great to finally see a site that's Texas specific. That said, my name's Raymond I ride a 2002 Suzuki SV650S, I've only been riding since August of last year, and I've had the SV since October. I've joined a few websites, and have a very simple question... how do you guys post those pictures next to your replies? Please be specific, I'm not exactly a computer genous.

Howdy,
Welcome to the board! I trust you are really enjoying the SV. The fun factor on those bikes is incredible
Putting images in your posts is pretty easy. First you need to have the image already online somewhere; your website, a friend's website, one of those image websites where you can make photo albums, etc,... You cannot actually upload any images to this board's web server. Once you have your image online, then you need to have the link address to the image location. This would be something like:
http://someserver.com/subdirectory/imagename.jpg (if you click on this it goes nowhere).
The file does not have to be a JPG, it can be most any image format.
Once you have the address, there are several ways to include the image. You can simply type in the address just like I have done above. When someone clicks on the link, it will open a new browser window and they can view your image. The second way is to use the URL tag you see above the message editing area when you are composing your post. Click it once, and you will get in your message. Edit that so you have this format:
Some text describing image (http://someserver.com/subdirectory/imagename.jpg)
To get the you can either type it manually or you can just click the tag at the top of the page again and it will put it there for you. These two methods both result in a new browser window popping up.
If you want the picture to actually display in your post without having to pop open a new browser window, then you will need to use the tag. Click the Img tag at the top of the editing area to start the process, then after the [IMG] appears in your text, enter the link to your image, and close the tag by clicking the Img* tag at the top again. You'll see an asterik by the tag when it is waiting for you to close it. This will be how it looks:
[img]http://someserver.com/subdirectory/imagename.jpg
This image will show up in the body of the post.
Just a note about using the different methods. If you have an image you want to share that is more than 500 pixels wide, please type in the address as in my first example or use the [URL] tag so that the image comes up in a new window. Otherwise it will mess up the display of the entire message thread making it difficult to read other people's posts. If you have an image with a width of 500 pixels or less, then feel free to use the [IMG] tags and include it in your post. If I see anyone posting images to large, I will edit the message and change it to a link to the image so it will pop up in a new window.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask again. Also, in the bottom left corner of the message editing screen, you will see under the OPTIONS a BBCode link. That will explain how to do quite a bit if this editing stuff.
