I have been doing a little price shopping and wanted to see what everyone thinks is a good and fair price for a 2008 Bandit, so far I have been quoted $8869.00 O.T.D. Is this a good price? Thanks

is this an ABS model? Bartelsville cycle sports up in oklahoma has the "S" model for 7299 out the door. Pay TX taxes when you get back and that would put you around 7,750. I think you could drive and pick it up for less than 1100 dollars...

otd means 'out the door'. not base price as listed in your link.

*Price, if shown, is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and does not include government fees, taxes, dealer vehicle freight/preparation, dealer document preparation charges or any finance charges (if applicable). MSRP and/or final actual sales price will vary depending on options or accessories selected.

which often uses up another 1k.
then again, i have read on this list, "my otd price was blah blah, then i had to pay taxes, and blah blah blah." so the total was not otd. out - duh - doh.

i guess otd means different things in different states. i paid $7,999 otd six months ago for a '07, non abs. $7,234.91 was base.

OTD (out-the-door) means EVERYTHING is included in that price: all dealer fees, freight, set-up, tax, tag, and title. I got mine for $8051 OTD. $8869 for a non-ABS model is pretty high in my area (central Florida). Cheers, Jack

sounds like a fun trip, i hope you find one.

get them to quote you a OTD price. otd means everything included.
base price
state county tax
freight
doc fee
accessories
liscence , dmv fee (local registration)
non-taxable items
etc

some dealers have a low base price, but get you back in other ways, its not till you see the final document, your bike is at the curb, the cute secratary hands you a paper and says "sign this and you can drive off".

like your going to hassle them to rewrite the final document, and look like the only guy who put them thru all that work, or find someone who has the authority to say, ok, change the price.
it aint going to happen.

OTD price is the total.

quoting a 'msrp' manufacturers suggested retail price, then saying its otd and all you need to pay is the taxes and registration fees, along with who knows whatever else is on the contract, is not quoting otd price.

what most others dont talk about, you should consider, is the insurance and financing charge, which is also not in the otd price.
but since dealers dont sell that, it would be impossible to compare it, but it does make sense to include this in the "cost of the bike".

my insurance was $500 a year, and i got 5.9 financing.

eagerly waiting to hear if something i said is wrong.

You are so right on that, I did some more checking around and found a 07 “s” model for $8000.00 out the door so I went ahead and gave them my info for financing, now here is the catch to the good price make sure you are sitting down for this one…..They told me 19.9% interest through Suzuki or 10.9% from another lender they use, now the catch on that was $850.00 down with a 3 year extended warranty, I kinda laughed and said thanks but no thanks I then asked him what the problem was and he told me a lack of credit history is why the interest was so high LOL then the finance manger had the nerve to ask if the interest or the money down was the problem, I said neither being nice about it and then told him I could put it on a credit card for 2.9% after that he had no more questions and I would guess he felt like a idiot after telling me it was due to my credit, my guess is that they were making up the difference on selling me the bike for $8000.00

Any way I contacted the dealer again on the 08 for $8869.00 otd and had them run my credit and the salesman called back and told me there finance manager said I could buy anything I want with no money down and said my credit scores are high enough they should be able to get me 8% or better, so I went ahead and gave them a deposit on the bike and will do the final financing in a few weeks when the bike comes in, I may be paying a little more for the bike but will make up the difference in financing charge and be able to deal with a honest dealership, everyone’s info as always has been most helpful…I thank you for that….I’ll let everyone know when my 08 Blue Bandit arrives!!!!

In August of2007 they dropped the price of a 2007 motorcycle by $1,064.09? That's great! The best I can find as of March 2008 in the Twin Cities is $800 off of a 2007. Even less off if the bike is Blue or Silver (2008).

I got lucky and found an '07 non-abs at Del City, Honda-Suzuki (Oklahoma City) on Dec 29th of last year for 7,014 OTD (brand new). I flew up to OK City (from Dallas) and drove it back down then registered it w/taxes in TX for $510 so the bike was really aprox $7,520 OTD. Some dealers will want to charge $500 for set-up, $200 for DOCs and prep etc. etc etc. Just added fluff so they can get the most for a bike. A Dallas dealer wanted $9,200 OTD for the same bike. Shop around. For example, Honda east, in Ohio, is asking (I think) $7,299 for an '08 non-ABS and thay ship to your city for $300.

I bought my 2007 this past December for $8,250 OTD. Yes, OTD - I wrote a check for $8,250 and that included the four year extended warranty for $400.00 or so, so I guess I really paid about $7,800 for the bike. That was in Virginia Beach, Va., where everything is normally more expensive. If I'd have had the time or inclination to drive to Charlotte NC, Hendrick's PowerSports probably would have given me a better deal. But that's a 350 mile ride back home for what might have amounted to a couple hundred bucks. Yeah, in hindsight I probably should have done that, but I saw this bike and wanted it.

No matter what you pay, you're always going to think you got screwed. I've been buying cars and bikes for almost 30 years now, and it's always the same - you always get that sinking feeling that you somehow got the shaft. Well, most times you probably do, and it's just better to put it in the back of your mind and fugetaboutit. Doesn't do anything but make you mad or worry.

Ride and have fun:rider:

I am in the process of closing a deal on a Black '07 non ABS. $7499 + tax and license comes to $8092. Tax here in Wisconsin is 5.5%. Across the River in Minnesota it is 6.5%

From other reports, it doesnt sound like other people pay nearly the same on sales tax...

Sounds like there is some good deals out of state, I just couldn’t seem to find a bargain except the one for $8000.00 but with a really high interest rate, I paid $8869.00 otd and got 6.15 % on a 2008. I’m happy with that and the dealer was really good to work with.

FDM - I'd feel real comfortable with your price on an /08. That's less (by $400) than what the Dallas dealers are asking for and the interest rate is very good. I was set to purchase the /08 in Dallas but just happen to notice the /07 in OK City in Cycletrader. They just had one left and wanted to clear out the showroom. BTW - there were no /07s left in Dallas as of 12/15/07 that I could find. Several in Ft Worth, but none in Dallas.

When you're buying a new vehicle, car, bike, truck or whatever, you are getting screwed. However it all comes down to this, what level of screwing is acceptable to you for the vehicle in question.
If at the end of the day you are comfortable with the reaming you wallet has taken, then you have a good deal.

Isn't it rather insignificant posting actual OTD prices? Unless everyone is paying the same sales tax (not everyone here is from texas) it really doesn't matter what the OTD price was. Sure the silly set up fees and doc fees should be discussed, but if you are not paying any sales tax in your state, chances are you are making up for that in income tax, or property tax, or both!!

I enjoy hearing others experience with the base price, and any other added fees that may have been added.

I am in the process of closing a deal on at 07 Bandit. Selling for $7499, plus 23 license fee, 5.5% tax, and a 45 doc fee from the dealer.

You're right. If you're comfortable with the price you paid for the bike you wanted then the final price doesn't matter.

Well in Texas it makes a big difference, if you just go off the sales price then you may have added cost as long as your arm on your final price you will finance, a dealer always looks for a place to make more money if they are giving you a good price on the unit, when working with a otd price the dealer can play with there shipping, make ready and so on charges and that gives you a good guide line to compare msrp to the otd price, from my buying experience through the years is if you can get otd close to what the msrp is then you are doing good, my unit price on my Bandit with nothing attached was $7749.00

Is TX sales tax really 8.25%? I thought MN sales tax was high at 6.5%. I work in MN but live in WI so I pay WI sales tax which is 5.5%. Obviously on a large purchase, that really adds up fast.

Perhaps we should discuss price before tax so we can really judge how much dealers are adding on. I just found that I am going to pay a $195 set up fee, and a $50 Doc fee. Kinda B.S., but I am only paying $7499 for the bike itself so its O.K.

$7818.92 OTD before WI tax. Add another $425.92 and it totals $8244.84

I have my own financing, and have visited or talked to most Suzuki dealers in the area, and I am happy with this deal. Not as good as some others that are posting, but for this area I can't imagine much better. Just like most things, stuff is just plain more expensive here in the twin cities area.

Also, this is an '07. The last black one I could find. As we all know, Black is faster so it's worth the price!! :rider:

suzuki reimburses the dealer to set up the bike, a $195 charge to set the bike up, is a common dealer tactic to charge more. "you want your bike 'set up' right", "right", they often have the lowest paid person in the back working hourly, with little or no experience to put it together. they often make money from suzuki doing that, so he is already making a profit from just having it put together, since suzuki assumes he is having a qualified tech, factory trained do it, but you know he wont be, and its doubtful if the dealer has the manpower to let him do something as simple as assy bikes from the crate. then his is charging you above that what he makes.

$50 doc fee, some people think is is a fee at the docks, when it is simply a fee the dealer charges you, to press print on their computer, and spit out a couple sheets of paper. you can buy a new printer with ink cartridge and paper from wal-mart for $50. he doesnt pay for any of the paperwork he hands to you, they are either forms given to him by suzuki or others. saying he has to charge you to fill out the paperwork is like saying he has to charge you for the air you breathe while you are in his dealership floor. they often have some cute young secratary or fast talking hip guy complimenting you, hand you the paperwork, to distract you.

thats $245 that you are being overcharged!
thats how dealers make money, and you just helped the salesman make a killing, by buying the bike, no questions asked.

that is the reason for this discussion about otd price.
one dealer has no markup on the base price so its low, then adds doc fee, set up fee, destination fee, shipping fee (all bogus add-ons that have no real cost to the dealership), and hopes to sell you a warranty for $1200 (that is really worth $300).
you need a jacket and a helmet, gives you 20% off the jacket ( he might even have that past suggested retail) he gives you a $100 helmet he pays $50 bucks for, and you feel you are getting a swinging deal.

another dealer might have a high initial price, but doesnt have any add-ons.
and sells you jacket and helmet at cost. which is the best deal, .........they dont want you to know, thats how they keep it complicated, so you are at the mercy of the salesman, "look i'm giving you a deal, you better move on it, because i have another guy coming in this afternoon, that wants this exact bike in this color, and i only have one of them and i dont know when i can get another one" when in reality, there are thousands at the wharehouse within a couple days shipping.

the only difference in otd prices is tax from state to state, and registration fees.

I buy lots of stuff. When posting on these forums stick to the "amount of check "method.Taxes are only relevant when two buyers are discussing total price within that state.A buyer only pays taxes to the state the bike is registered in.

Either post a price and say this price is plus fees or say this price is OTD.,out the door or the amount of the check for total purchase.

I think it should be illegal in Texas to, has nothing to do with sales tax, but they will tax you on everything possible.

Hey guys, my first post here, and I come to brag....I'm so ashamed!:trust:

So, I got an 07 Bandit on Ebay last saturday, with 56 honest to gawd miles! Still has the factory grease on the chain!! The seller was a GM at a big car dealership, sold his house, moved into an apt, had no garage, so put it in the showroom at the dealership. And there it stayed. It's still warranteed till August.

So, I got it for $5800, which I thought was a steal, there was no reserve, figured he'd be p-o'd, but he claims he only paid "around" $6200 new, which he says was "true" dealer cost. He works with the cycle dealer on vehicles he buys from HIM, and vice versa. So, if that is correct, that gives you a little insight into what the dealers actually pay. A local dealer in Ohio was selling 07's for 6999. w/ no freight/prep...any of that crap!

I actually just found this forum. I was given the link. Never heard of it before. You guys are a pretty well kept secret....never even came up on a "bandit forum" search!

Well since I have purchased 6 new bikes from Bartlesville I will give the the actual numbers it will cost you sitting in your garage Tagged and inspected not including the gas to get there and back.

$7299 Bandit 1250 S (Non ABS)
$12 Doc fee

$7311 you piad B-Ville and are heading sounth.

Now when you arrive in TX

$7299 X 6.25% =$456.19
$76.80 for the actual plate and all the state bs fees
$14.50 state inspection

$7858.49 this is OTD with all taxes and inspection paid

Not including the gas to go get it.

And the beauty of doing it this way you will have your plate immediately, not the usual having to go back to the dealer for it

That's way too high for my area, but San Diego, I wouldn't have a clue.
I usually use KBB.com, find the midpoint between retail and trade-in.

I recently paid $12,000 ride away (out the door, no more to pay) for my 08 1250.
The RRP (recommended retail price) for the non ABS model here in Australia is $11,990 + on road costs which normally run out to around $1,200.

So I reckon I got a pretty fair deal, but then looking at what you guys are paying in US, and the aussie dollar at approx. 91cents to the US dollar......

Bought 2008 1250 ABS for $8195 plus tax and tags..... Did some shopping and was the best price I could find.... Also got 5.95% financing through an outside company nothing to do with Suzuki...

I have been doing a little price shopping and wanted to see what everyone thinks is a good and fair price for a 2008 Bandit, so far I have been quoted $8869.00 O.T.D. Is this a good price? Thanks

In Pocatello Idaho I was 8,005 O.T.D. So I'm thinking thats high.

Sorry to be a post a holic but my dealer here would sell his 08 blue bandit with around 1200 gel seat, all three suzuki hard bags, PB winshield and handerbar raisers from twisted for around 8,600 o.t.d.
