View Full Version : Factory Fairings

I got the factory fairings from eBay. They where about $420+shipping. They fit well, but were a tight fit, and I got them on in about 45 minutes.

They reduce the wind lots on my legs, but not really alot. I have a VFR 750, where the fairings are tight against the frame, and those have 0 wind, but since these are not 100% tight against the fairings the wind does get through.

I am not sure if it was worth it. Since for wind protection, a $100 windscreen was really worth it, but $450 for the fairings is less bang-for-the-buck wind protection.

In the pictures, you can see I used the little black rubber strip from the aftermarket windscreen to use around the top of the fairings to protect it from rubbing against the regular fairing. The kit comes with two large black rubber blocks (part 259-952-002-2) that are supposed to stick to the inside of the fairings and push and protect them from vibration, but after about 100 miles they fell off.

The instructions are all visual, with no words, and are not really clear. So if you get the fairings, run through all the parts first to make sure you understand how it works. The only real trick is getting the metal brackets lined up correctly, as you have to tighten the metal brackets before putting on the fairings, and the fairings cover the metal brackets so you cant adjust them after (part 563-710-015-1 and the other one above it).

Since they are factory fairings, the color match is perfect.

I can post better pictures, these were all taken inside. Outside pics are much better.

More pics. I am holding the black tubing from the windscreen (that I almost threw away then I thought it would be useful for something) that I used to protect the tops of the fairings.

More again.

On the underside, you can see the screws that hold the fairings together. In the kit, plastic ones are supplied, but I went to Home Depot and got metal ones. The plastic top screw fell out and is on the road someplace, so the metal ones are much better.

If you lost all 8 screws, the backing would also fall out, so get metal ones before you lose them.

They may not block a lot of wind, but they certainly look sweet!

Thanks. If I could listen to my own words of wisdom I'd be a much happier person.

Actually, one thing the fairings do for the bike, is it makes the red ones go WAYY faster than the black ones now.

But are still slower than the blue ones!

Yeah, the fairings do look great. If you had to do it all over again, would you? Is it more for aesthetics or wind protection? Will you need to remove the left fairing to do oil changes?

I dont think you need to remove the fairings for oil changes. Since they are factory fariings, I don't think they would be that stupid.

If I had to do it over, I would be on the fance. THey do cut wind, just not the same as my VFR or GS1150

I am still real tempted to get these as I think the bike screams BLAH right now. The color of mine and Ken's would look awesome faired! $450 though??? Maybe next winter. :lol2:

I have to remove parts of my VFR to get the filter off, so that is little concern to me.

By the way, these fairings are now for sale. Nothing wrong with them and I did like them, I am just selling the Bandit and will sell the fairings seperately (since it will be a better return rather than selling the bike with the fairings).

Make me an offer.

It is that Dark Red model. As you see in the pictures above, that's the bike there. The fairings are the red just as above also.

I like it and don't want to just give it away, but I can't justify having 3 bikes in my garage. I want to sell it while I still have 4 months of warentee on it. Oh yes I should be mentioning that on my ads!

Are you interested in the fairings or the bike itself?

Still has 4 months warentee!!

It looks like you're going to take off the left side to get to the oil filter...

Missed your earlier post, sorry. I'm on the hunt for an '07 blue lower fairing.

John,

Can you have someone take a picture facing straight on towards the front of your bike with it up on the center stand and you sitting on the bike so we can see how much of your legs are covered by the fairing. :rider:
