I was invited to come check out the 877 acre park this weekend along with about 29 other riders. The park flooded a few months ago and was closed. The park will have a Grand Opening March 15th. I am the OHV rep but spend a lot of time on a dirt bikes so I jumped at the opportunity. They were looking for suggestion and critics. The park is basically the same area as before but they have taken a lot time to make three loop trails that are all in one direction for dirt bikes and atv's only. For being inside the metroplex walls I think it is a great place to spend some time. It will be very good for beginners and families along with folks wanting some training time to run cross countries or limited on time to drive out of the metroplex. They have 3 loops that can be connected into a single loop. I believe the loops connected will be 6-7 miles. They also have a small motocross track out in the center that is only suppose to be accessed in one place(as time goes on they plan to improve the MX track). In another section they have set up a place for kids that are beginners. Terry from the city of Trophy Club parks and rec said Mark Lamb, himself and a bunch of helpers have spent numerous hours getting everything laid out. I feel they have done a nice job. If folks who used to go out there will abide by the new rules and directional trails this will be a great place to ride with less worries of folks crossing the trail.
May hats off to the folks in Trophy Club. The Mayor road his street bike out and said hello.
Both Terry and the Mayor said there will be million dollar homes built just across the street from the park. The city has been very clear with the builder to explain the park has no plans of going anywhere and the new residents need to know what to expect from across the street.
If you are looking for a day of activity that is close, go run the track a several times.
This should be the web site for info. I am sure it will be updated soon.

That sounds great. I used to go there about 6 years ago but it got so dangerouse with all the 4x4 trucks running around plus the multiple fist fights between the drunk people out there I quit going.

Sounds like this is a change in the right direction. Are the 3 loops new trails?

Looks like you need the new Texas offroad sticker to ride there. Do you know if I am plated (street legal) if I still need a sticker?

You don't need a sticker if you are street legal.
When I was out there before the floods they sold the stickers at the gate if you needed one.

All the trails are old trails that have been changed up. When I say changed up I mean the flow. The trail probably went left and now they run it right into another exsisting trail. You will see there was a straight away that would be a boring straight. They made a cut right and ran it out into a set of woods for about 9 turns then brought back in up the same trail a little ways. It added a bunch of riding that would have been left out.
Like I said above what will be important is people following what is layed out. We all can help by policing ourselves. If people start cutting and riding like they used to we will have the same chaos that was their before. To me it is a great little get away that is close lets make it work. They have used some of the old logs that had floated in when it was flooded to block trails that are not suppose to be used.
With 3 trails you can also cut out the sand section or the black dirt section if you don't like riding that tyoe of stuff.
I suggested a few small table tops on the cross coutry trails. He said they are getting quotes for more improvements. All the monies for admission go directly back into the park !

The rules/law changed. All vehicles riding on public land require stickers now.
