Well, count me in, too.

Hey Michael , theres always the old 290 almost "abandoned" Hempstead Hwy.
to Waller then Farm to Market it down. Or 529 over to Brookshire/Pattison and run the river road :rider: to San Felipe then across to Sealy.

I'm not fond of the Slab either.

Move me to a definite. My passenger is still a maybe.

Am I reading this right, 13:00 hours? That is great. I can get in my MS150 training ride, then ride my motorcycle to eat pie.
What I really should do is just ride my bicycle there(is that legal).

Since I have been on my bicycle once this year, I really need to start building up some seat time.

Gilk51

OK, not too many folks signed up from up north, so I made up a very ambitious plan (subject to change now that a couple more may be going)...

Since, after pie, my latest fad is courthouses, I have a route to pick up a few down and back, assuming I don't wear this old body out. (not to mention I hope I am on the downwind leg of this crud I have been fighting all week).

I'll attach the Garmin file, but here is the main plan on the way down:

leave Arlington about 7:00 AM or so

road to town/intersection, miles estimate
---- --------------------
- Arlington
US287 Mansfield
FM157 Venus, Maypearl, 32 miles
FM66 FM308
FM308 Milford, Malone
SH171 Hubbard, Mexia
SH14 Groesbeck (photo stop), 106 miles
SH14 Bremond
FM46 Franklin, OSR
OSR SH6
SH6 158, Booneville Rd
158 SH30
SH30 SH244
SH244 90
90 Anderson (photo stop), 207 miles
90 SH6 (Navasota)
SH6 10th Street, Heampstead (photo stop), 237 miles
159 Bellville (photo stop), 253 miles
SH36 Sealy (lunch + pie)

looks to be about 268 miles that way.

More options going back. looking at:

road to town/intersection, miles estimate
---- --------------------
US90 W I10 West
I10 US90
US90 Columbus (photo stop), 25 miles
71 La Grange (photo stop), 52 miles
US77 Giddings (photo stop), 72 miles
US77 US90, SH36
90/36 Cameron, 123 miles

quick way home (most likely):
US77 Waco, I35, I35W (another 141 miles), total 264

-or-
190/36 Temple
36 Gatesville (photo stop)
36 FM182
182 219
219 1238, 927, 144, Glen Rose, 67 ...
or 219 Clifton, 6, 22, Meridian, 174, 67 ...
200 miles from Cameron or 323 total

Anyway, that's the idea if I go it alone...

I becoming less likely to go - haven't shaken my cold/crud that has been after me since Wednesday. I'll make a final decision tomorrow morning but I am looking like improbable right now (the wife thinks I should NOT go). :-(

<edit> To tell you how bad it is - I sound like Colonel Decker from the old A-Team TV show...

&^%$#^$#@#$$^&Battery!!!!!!!!!

Got up worked for a bit this morning. Then i came home finished to cleaning of the REX (cleanest and shiniest it has been in months).I went to the PC and mapped out a great route for the ride home and downloaded it into the GPS. Went and loaded the bike and got all layered up w/warm clothes for the ride down. WELL imagine my suprise when I locked the front door put on the jacket, gloves and helmet, threw a leg over and turned the key on. Push the starter button and ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! slow crank about 3 revolutions and nothing more. What are the odds ?? Well the original 7 YO battery decided TODAY of all days to take a crap and of course the wothless stealership had none in stock (like I didnt know that already ) So my day went from the kid the nite before XMAS to the pouting brat ...Looking forward to the next time longingly....Jack
