Book Review: A Twist of the Wrist II by Keith Code

This book is about the basics of high-performance riding. It is geared for the track school. The author owns/operates the California Superbike School.

I found the book interesting, similar to the Total Control book by Lee Parks. I would only recommend this as reading prior to going to a track school. The written instruction is useful, but I would not recommend practicing any of it on a bike without a qualified coach. Like Parks' book I found the writing on fear reaction to be interesting. Code defines these as Survival Reactions. He lists a number of these, SR #1, SR #2, etc.

Worth the read, but not the buy unless you are headed to a track school. Good airplane reading.

:tab While I think it great for preparation for heading to the track, I also think it well worth the read even if you are not. I read it long before I ever made it to the track. The stuff on survival reactions was a gold mine for me. However, at that time, I had not read anyone else's stuff yet. I was able to radically improve my riding and control of the bike immediately after reading this book. when I did get around to heading to the track, I reread it, and once again it really helped.

Ditto. I think if those thoughts on SR were coupled with some of the drills in Parks' book, then it would be a more successful package. I may do that myself.
