We have a group of Ural riders headed to West/Waco in May, and are looking for some good roads in that area to ride.
Any suggestions?

Most of the roads in Mclennan County have been paved.
East of the Brazos is usually just flat farm land till you get near
a creek bottom...
Try Talbert Ranch Road in China Springs, it run up toward lake Whitney.
Bosque and Hill counties are your best bet...

Or you can go east to Milam County. Most of the County Roads are unpaved, but usually graded pretty well. Go on a Saturday and there is good BBQ in Cameron. :eat:

From Austin to to Burnet somehow, Lampasas, 580 to Topsey & Pidcoke, to 116 Gatesville. From Gatesville, 36 north to 182 Turnersville, then right to Mosheim (not certain of road, but shortly out of Mosheim). At this point, not far from Valley Mills. From there, it is easy to either go to Waco via Hwy 6, or go North out of Valley Mills to Laguna Park. From Laguna Park, take 2114 to West. this keeps you off stinken 35!! If in West, you must stop at the Bakery at the intersection. GREAT stuff.
This would be a nice ride from Austin. Not many dirt roads however. When are you to be in area? If possible, would like to see the Urals?

There was a gravel road between Valley Mills and George's ranch with a nice low water crossing , everything else is paved but barely , alot of fun riding out there , just look a a county map and pick the smallest roads . Ok burgers at Crawford too. SEYA

Thanks everyone.
We're going to be up in West the weekend of May 2,3,4 - no way of knowing for sure - but it looks like we'll have a half-dozen Urals out there - maybe more if everyone shows up.
We'll probably plot out a couple of rides for Saturday, when/if we get our act together I'll post up where we're planning to go - perhaps we could meet up.
Thanks again
Kevin

I might come down and meet up with you guys in West depending on what's happening for me and if I can get out of Dallas.
If I come down I might have a request......
Would one of you gents give me a ride in the sidecar around the block? Never riden in one and think that would be pretty cool!!!! In return, I can give you a ride on my back seat! What a deal!

Almost all of the county roads in falls county (Marlin, Lott, Rosebud area) are unpaved, and some of them are quite wild. I worked for the sheriff's department there for almost a year, and know almost every way through that county without hitting pavement. I'll see if I can't get a map, and mark out some of the good roads.

This place has a restaurant and bakery. Might interest you. Check out the web site. Don't know why it's not included on web site. Good food, good desserts, good bread and pastries to take back to family. Mill has things you could also take back to wife? Nice walk around. Located on 933 just out of Waco.
