To be fair, this isn't a Bandit forum. It's a Texas-wide (and actually international) forum that attracts lots of two wheelers. Lots of folks hit the "new posts" link and get to see new threads and posts no matter what section they're in - there's no rule about someone being required to have a Bandit to post in this particular section. You may want to add something to the title if you'd like it to be directed at Bandit owners.

I don't mean to rag on y'all, it's just that I think you may be taking this little 'niche' for granted when it was created to try and help you guys out, snce no other Bandit-specific or even Suzuki-specific forum seems to fit your needs the way TWT does.

Please share in the General section with everyone else when/if the topic isn't Bandit specific (like washing a bike). We don't bite. ;-)

I'm not saying you can't enjoy yourself here - but don't get on people's cases when THEY try to enjoy it also. You got onto someone because they don't have a Bandit and responded in *ahem* "your" subforum.

Let's all just play nice. You asked about washing a bike, but you posted it in the Bandit section as if nobody else with a bike has ever seen soap. I'd like to see more interaction, not more separation.

:tab First and foremost, TWT is a site about motorcycling in general. It is not bike specific. I created the Bandit subforum because there were a lot of bandit specific threads about mods and such. I figured having the subforum would make it easier to keep all the Bandit specific stuff in one place for people to find. I was not intending to create a subculture within the TWT community.

:tab The site happens to be Texas centric simply because that is where I live. When I first started the site, I had no clue that so many people from outside Texas would find their way here. I have no problem with non Texans being here and am flattered that they think TWT worth their time. However, I would like to see folks participate with the entire community instead of segmenting off and completely ignoring the rest of the site. The intent of the forum was to bring folks from all walks together instead of creating division.

I invite ALL of the non Texans to participate in the rest of the forum, particularly the Story Telling section. After all, a great many of us travel to other states when riding. We love seeing the great places in other states or other countries. By all means, post up your adventures!!

Gee thanks Scott!!! What sucks even more is that it will be 50 degrees by Friday here and 856 trillions gallons of snpw will be melting and screwing other things up as well. I saw a guy neamed Peter Mayer in concert Friday night. Before the concert, weather was calm. Come out afterwords, and the blizzard hit hard and ugly and fast upon us. Peter is Jimmy Buffet's lead guitarist and musical director..........OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to serial numbers - are these numbers grouped by region or are they scattered all over the place as they roll off some assembly line and hit some order for some dealer?

suzukijo
03-08-2008, 09:55 PM
my understanding of serial number delivery. dealers are hard selled at the new year dealer meeting to buy a certain number of bikes on an 'initial order'.
from this, and the number of dealers available, the manufacturer then delivers those amounts to the wharehouse nearest them for dealer delivery or pickup. often the lowest number, goes out to the nearest from the first group of deliveries.

how i ended up with #601 was coincidence, it could have been sitting for a while at the dealer.

Joe,
What is the build date on your bike? Mine shows 02/07 or is it 07/02 .... I can't remember. Either way it's Feb or 2007. I'm just curious about the numbers built per month.

mine is taped up, so give me a day or so to peel it off and look.
one of the things i did, was to remove all the orange white warning stickers, and tape over the other info badges on the bike.

with them all covered, i forget which one has the id, where is the date id? too lazy to pull them all off, and redo them, its late.

100291 here. I hope Happy1250's bike was a lower number than mine!

Mine is 100029. I would prefer to have a low number production bike. They tend to pay closer attention to the first of the production run than further on. As for "Happy1250", a lot of talk, no substance.

I read that if you take the serial number, multiply it by the MSRP, and then divide that number by the purchase date (Julian calendar), the answer always comes out to 666. :eek2:

We tried it on a friends bike and the answer came out to 666.3, so he's not scared. Just as a precaution, I'm waiting for the price to go up before I buy one.

I hate it when people drag out old posts, but I recently received information that good ole #29 was the first (lowest production number GSF1250) brought into the U.S.

That info and $4.00, I can get a cup of Starbucks:lol2:

I just saw this one this morning! Wow!

Anyhow, my '07 Bandit has 101813. Still bone stock on the engine and a bit over 28,000 miles in the two years I've had it. Got it as a left over '07 in '08 when I got rid of my DL1000.
