All,
Yesterday we lost a fellow motorcycle rider. Mr. Polk, 57 yr old, died after wrecking his 1200 Bandit. He and his son were riding on seperate motorcycles when his bike apparently clipped a curb causing him to crash. That is all of the details I know at this time but will repost additional info as it becomes available. He was wearing a helmet.
Another reminder that we must remain focused at all times when riding.

Prayers sent to his family. I hit a curb too but all I got was a broken leg. When was this? Where? I'm in Midland.

It happened on Loop 250 and County Road 60 around four o'clock Sunday afternoon. Authorities say he was wearing a helmet, but it flew off during the accident.

Here's the newspaper story (http://www.mywesttexas.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19377794&BRD=2288&PAG=461&dept_id=475626&rfi=6).
A Midland man died Sunday night after rolling his motorcycle into the median off of East Loop 250 North.
Carroll Paulk, 57, was traveling eastbound when he attempted to navigate a curve in the roadway and lost control of his 2002 Suzuki motorcycle.
His son, who was riding on separate bike ahead of him, called the incident in to authorities.
The accident happened around 4:14 p.m. about 1.4 miles east of town at the loop and East County Road 60, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Paulk, who was wearing his helmet but lost it during the accident, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.
He was pronounced deceased at 4:45 p.m.
Odd accident. Best wishes to his friends and family.

That has to be really hard on the son. I did not witness my Dad's accident, but I was first on scene. Fortunately, he survived, relatively unscathed. However, it was not until a few weeks afterward that we were sure what his condition would be. I remember that as being a very dark time for me. I cannot imagine how much worse it would have been had he died...
Prayers for the son
