Hi I have purchased a second hand hugger off fleabay and the fit is very bad using a bar and clamp that fixes to the swing arm, has any one fitted an after market hugger that fits well? :trust: I have looked on websites but they all show the chain side, there seems to be no pictures of the exhaust side that fits to the swing arm. I do not want to buy another one that looks naff, any help appreciated.
Hugger is a must in the UK:thumb:

Fog,
Please provide a definition for "Naff." (We may want to begin using it on this side of the water!)

Here's the hugger in detail...I bought it at: http://stores.ebay.com/suzukispecialists

It's in fiberglass and has a lower tongue.

IT's not

It's supported by the 2 standard bolts on the chain guard and with 2 bolts on the swing arm center together with the bottom part. On the second picture you can see one of these 2 bolts just to the left of the exhaust bracket bolt

Looks pretty good. I assume it bolts up to stock holes in the swingarm and does it have any kind of rubber mounting or washers? Does it keep the road grime off the shock and area in front of the hugger? Not a bad price if it fits well since it has that lower extension.

Hi Guys. A little off-topic I guess but I just wanted to say thanks to all the people who contribute to this monster thread. I was an invaluable source of information for me while looking for a new machine. In the end I did not buy a Bandit, but nevertheless the Bandit is still an awesome machine. I should also add that you guys have the best, and certainly the most welcoming, motorcycle forum on the net. It offers an outstanding example to all the cliquey little forums who tend to ignore newcomers. So once again thanks y'all (poor attempt at Texan accent), and enjoy every minute of your riding.

Didn't do any hole to install if I remember. And yes the shock still very cleaned.

It's on this side of the pond but:

Looks like a nice unit. I have no idea how large of a company ERMax is, maybe you can find a distributor in the UK and save a bit on shipping/time?

trey

Ermax is located in the UK, though I know the factory that makes it is actually in France. I have the Holeshot Ermax hugger on my bike. The Suzuki one is cheaper but not as good-looking IMO. It's a quality piece with an extremely smooth, glossy finish. Some rigidity, not flimsy like some.
Here's 2 pics from both sides of the bike....

Sorry it's perhaps not close enough, but it fits great and still "matches" though it doesn't have the nearly invisible blue metalflake of factory of my black Bandit. If you have another color, you'll perhaps want it paint-matched.

Mike, I know you're thinking about fitting Renthals - you won't be able to use hand guards with the Renthals that I recommended because there's not enough (read 'no') clearance against either the tank or screen/fairing with the steering on the lock stops. Well, I guess you could but your steering lock would be severely restricted.

I'd hoped to fit hand guards too but had to decide between lower, more comfortable bars or the guards - the bars won.

It looks as if Eyabusa might have fitted bar risers as well which I guess gives more clearance for the guards?

Sproogy,
You are right, I installed Rox 2" articulating risers which will accommodate a host of aftermarket bars. I didn't have to disconnect cables or lines to reroute them either. I'm very pleased with the clean look and ability to go with other bars now.

Guys many thanks for the replies and pictures its a great help:thumb: I must say the members are very helpful and a great site. Cheers :chug:

The Suzuki Specialists / Banditmania hugger is a Powerbronze one. I thought it attached to the Brake somehow on that side, but I don't actually have one but have been thinking of getting one - might wait till next winter now.

Can confirm the handguards don't fit very well with Renthals if you have the SA, I had to take mine off, even after trimming them down to fit better they were too much of a hinderance.

Where abouts are you in Worcestershire Fog? I lived in Worcester till about a year ago, and just north of Stourbridge now.

Hi Thoejp
I am not a million miles away 1/2 mile out side Kidderminster towards Mustow Green Island. I have not fitted Renthals yet I am still thinking of it, which set did you fit? how do you find them? regards Mike

Thinking of getting a hugger. Curious if anyone, after having one for awhile has any input. I'm wanting it more from a guard aspect ( water and debris from the rear tire ) as opposed to aesthetics.

I'd like to re-ignite this thread if y'all don't mind.

I will be buying Dale's rear Cogent Shock about Aug 1. I am looking to keep things clean under there as well so the concept of the hugger came up.

Dale's version is the Ermax at $210 and comes in black glossy.
The Factory versions is $220 and comes in matched colors (or colours for you Euro guys.
There is an Ebay version in the UK for about $110 in black gloss.
There is a Puig version on Ebay for about $185 in black carbon fiber.

Can any of you who have one these or other chime in and give an opinion?

Thanks - Phil

Have a look at the Ermax hugger. There is a major distributor in the Uk. I have one fitted to my B1250 and the fit and quality of the finish is very good. If your interested I can supply some pics of my bike.

Link to ErmaxUK.
