A MOTORCYCLISTS IS HIT BY A TRUCK AND BRINGS THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE TO A STANDSTILL IN CENTRAL LAREDO.
POLICE SAY THE TRUCK DRIVER FAILED TO GIVE THE RIGHT OF WAY TO THE MOTORCYCLISTS NEAR THE MCPHERSON AND SAUNDERS INTERSECTION.
THE MOTORCYCLISTS WAS WEARING HIS PROTECTIVE GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO WALK AWAY WITH JUST MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES.
WITNESSES SAY, THE MAN'S BIKE SLID FOR ABOUT A BLOCK AND THAT THEY'RE SURPRISE HE WASN'T HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
THE TRUCK DRIVER DID GET A CITATION.

The news has tended to not report these things. This one made the news. Now what I wanna know, is how fast was the R6 (yes it was an R6) going that it slid for a BLOCK? :snap: The biggest problem we have down here is kids go and buy the bikes without a single clue as to how to ride ANYTHING, let alone a supersport. and people here dont pay any attention to what theyre doing down here. :wary: Its scary out there kids. Be safe.

I wonder if the distance of a block is an interpatation of distance or actual distance?

If a sport bike falls just right, it can slide for a very long time on the fairings. During a race at Cresson last month, I was running down a bike that was slideing. The rider came out of Buzzard Neck at about 40mph and somehow fell off, and I saw it slide all of the way to Little Bend before I passed it. BTW, it was still moving at the time.
