Saw this article and thought it was an interesting read...

http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=4347&page_number=1

Some excerpts...

"...property taxes [equaled], about $15,000 in 2001. ...But the village does have one big asset-1000 feet of Broad Street. The revenue from traffic citations on that little stretch of four-lane roadway has gone from $101,223 in 1990 to $377,651 in 2001".

"At one time there was one cop for every four residents, and 66 citations were written per village resident in a single year."

Entertaining article. The only problem I had with it was the fact that it was from Car and Driver. That publication is a rag. Hard to believe anything they spout out.

If it's true it sounds like the Feds would have gotten involved a long time ago.

I think it's a situation where what is legal is not necessarily moral or ethical.

http://www.newromesucks.com is really extensive.

John Stossel even did a segment (http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/2020/stossel_gmabtickettrap030131.html) regarding New Rome on ABC.

Most entertaining on the NRS website are the "Tales of Woe" (http://www.newromesucks.com/topten.html).

This reminds me of that movie with Demi-moore, Dan Akroyd, John Candy and others... What was that called? Demi and her man got stopped and could not get out of the crazytown. Shoot, now that is going to drive me nuts all day...

I think as she gets bigger roles ($), she can afford more cosmetic surgery.
