Suzuki Top case

I bought my Vstorm New on the April 4th. When i purchaed the bike i informed the dealer i want a top case, hand gaurds and center stand installed. a week later i was told it was all on back order. The parst started to come in over the last few weeks. The last to arrive was the top case.

well i'm not happy with the suzuki top case. says it will hold 2 full face helments. Nope. only 1. I can barely fit my helmet and mesh jacket in it. Also dealer neglected to tell me about a color insert needed for the case. now i have a ugly area on the top near the back of case that has 4 holes for water to leak in. The insert cost another $59. so i think for the price of the top case, insert, and mounting hardware i would have been much better with after market. Cheap plastic latch to hold it closed and to the bike. No back pad, tail light or option for one. Case seems real flimsy and cheap. I guess i will live and learn

The key has soft stamped on it. Anyone know who makes this.

You can't lay the helmet on the right ear with the top facing to the left of the box and then insert the other in on the right?

It seems odd that it wouldn't come with a black insert. The insert option is normally used to color match the case to your bike. I'd double check that with mother suzuki; not your dealer.

tired several ways no luck. i was trying to fit a xl and a M helmet.

That is unfortunate. They must of changed the way they do business as the color panels came free of charge with mine. However, I did make adding the center stand and the cases as part of the deal tobe installed and delivered with the bike. But that was last year (2007) in February. The cases will hold up to rugged use but do not over pack them and force to close. I have over 10k miles on mine with no problems. I like the quick release and use them as suitcases to carry in/out of hotels.

i ordered a centerstand, hand gaurds and top case as part of my purchase also to be installed by dealer. But everything got back ordered. Once the items did finaly come in the dealer did install. The parts department was shocked that you had to pay extra for any insert. They called suzuki and was told you have to purchase all inserts now. so that increases the cost of the case by about $59. You can buy a Bestem case on ebay that comes with mounting hardware, back pad and brake light for the $59 price. Whish i would have know about it first.
I guess you live and learn. Glad i did not pay full price for all the items and got free installation. The insert will cost full price unless the dealer cuts me a break.
