Time for a new GPS. Im still using my black and white Garmin EMap on my bike for emergencies....but need a new one to use in the car,...that will also work on the bike.

I have seen Garmin Nuvi 200s for $139.........very tempting...but Garmin's info says it is not compatible with motorcycle use and not weatherproof and does not appear to have overhead map view with all street names or routing from PC capability.

Im on a budget........would like to keep it under $200 (will pay more if I have to) if at all possible and will have to be a new unit with most current mapping software.

I would like to be able to call up an overhead map view.....not just the 3D fly-in mode and maybe have the ability to plan a route on my PC and download it to my GPS......but those features may put it out of my price range.

Any suggestions?

The nuvi 200 is not waterproof and only has ability to add 1 waypoint it will work on a bike i have seen other mention they have them on thier bikes. You can map from point A Via b to point c but not plan out a entire route as it wants to auto route to your finish point. You can zoom out or change the setting to show street overview. You get the 2009 maps as a free download. For the price its a nice little gps loaded with many option for the price. Its really designed to get you from point a to b. I just bought one for my parents.

I recently bought a refurbished 2730. It has all the bells and whistles, a very good warantee, is water proof, has all the most current maps, is loadable, and unfortunately almost double what you are willing to spend. You can get a refurb'd 2720 for around $200 with all the abilities of the 2730 just without the XM and MP3 capability.

Gamin 2610. Great unit. If you buy from a registered dealer (GetFeetWet, EdgeGPS, etc), you can pick up a refurb with a 1-yr warrantee. I bought mine for $210 about a year ago (refurb from GetFeetWet) and love it. I've never gotten caught in a downpour, but it's waterproof.

About the only downside is the size, and there is no onboard battery. Not a big deal for me. I have it mounted on a RAM mount and it's not an issue. The lack of a battery doesn't bother me either, it's too bulky to go off hiking with anyway.

Call up the dealers and make sure they have them in stock before ordering... They go pretty quick, the 2610 has turned into a favorite with bikers who don't want to plunk down for a ZUMO.

A Ziploc bag makes any GPS weatherproof, AND keeps the bug splatter off.

I've been checking into the same thing and the best overall deal I've found is a refurbished Garmin Quest. Waterproof out of the box. Don't bother reading the nitpicking reviews - for the price, they are a great deal. You can find them refurbed for $100 or so with a 90 day - 1yr warranty depending on who you buy it from.

You could probably find a Garmin V for about $100-150 used. Not sure what exactly you want but for a bit over $200...you could have several choices.
