This one is pretty far north and may require some east or west routing to bypass the DFW metromess...
Considering this, should we adjust the time to 1:00 PM instead?
Started early so ya'll can start thinking about it...

Try to sit IN the chair next time. :-P

Please count me in.
It's soooo far... but I think I can make it.
By the way, the north and south streets around the square are one-way (clockwise). The one in front of Lucy's is northbound (don't ask me how I know....).
If you are coming in from the east, you might want to try FM455 west from US75 (ref Speedfreaks101's route in post #36).
Maybe to maybe+.. i have an appt that morning that should release me around 1030... if I ride there, I can boogie up the road and meet y'all at or close to 11:00.

There just isn't anything easy or fun about getting around or through DFW. Granted, the event would be fun, but the trip up and back..... You could take the 'long way 'round' (which I'll be doing) to circumnavigate the CF of the Metromess. Perhaps an arch NE then veering west north of the Metromess? I'll be routing just the opposite since I'm already NW of the Mess. But the area around Pilot Point, Ray Roberts Lake, west of Celina, etc is just beautiful. I highly recommend a visit.
Can we do that? Two places in the same day?Well, Pat lives near the Pie destination, so I think he's trying to make an actual ride out of it.

I'm a big fan of fruit pies, especially blackberry and blueberry/banana and cherry and apple and...oh yeah, key lime (made with real key limes). I know with the cost of fruit, they're expensive to make, but they sure taste good slightly warmed and a la mode. :eat:

Regarding both of these routes. Might I suggest where FM455/Hwy377 intersect that you take a right and go south about 7 miles to FM428 where you will then take a left and head to Celina.
FM428, just like FM455 will take you straight into Celina. FM428 from Hwy377 is much much much better than FM455 at that point. FM428 is lined with several nice Horse properties to view, not to mention a portion of tree lined roadway with some nice sweeping curves to get your lean on!

You are correct, 428 is a much better road through that section; better riding surface too. I just came back that way after having breakfast at the Anna Truck Stop this morning. When you get to FM 1385 (T intersection) take a right, go about 3/4 of a mile, and take a left again back onto 428. Follow 428 on around and it will dead-end back into 455. Take a right and on into Celina (less than a mile). You'll see the townsquare in the middle of town on the left just after you come into town (plenty of parking around the square). Just a friendly word of caution; stay to the inside line in the curves. There are a few spots where the pavement is rough to the outside line on a couple of the curves. Ask me how I know this. ;-)

maybe if the Bandit was on fire... http://www.texasarlingtoncs.us/pics/smilies/FIREdevil.gif

Does the North Dallas Tollway offer pay by mail?

Yes. All of NTTA roads offer that now. That is.... if you actually ride over the sensor ;)
Bump me up to a definite!
Wow Russ, that about 20 miles short of an ironbutt if you round trip it. I hope you have a hydration system to keep hydrated. Looking forward to talking to you again.

I'll bet he has plans to zip over to Arkansas or visit friends in Dallas. He usually makes good advantage of these long rides.
For those that don't know, Major Russ used to be stationed at Ft. Sill in Lawton Oklahoma but would join us TWTers for Pie Runs and BBQ runs and other miscellaneous "secret" ;-) rides...
Of course, we knew him when he was just a Captain.
Now, Colonel Russ sounds pretty good. :trust:

I spent 6 months at Ft Sill back in 92 when I rec-classed to 31V. That was my first taste of the south west and I have been hooked ever since.

For those of you taking 455 east from Pilot Point on Saturday, watch the curves. When the signs show a 90 degree turn left or right, believe it. They can sneak up on you!

Leave about 8:30 from SW Arlington (Shell station at Green Oaks and Spur 303 - Pioneer)
Chuck,
Do mind some company in the morning? Paula and I will meet you at Green Oaks and 303 at 8:30. I mean it this time. :eek2:

I sure hope so! See you then...
I just couldn't do it. The prospect of 7 hours of super slab in the heat just took away my will to live. That and someone wants to come look at the bike today.
