Howdy,

:tab For those of you that don't already know, Morgan Gillis was killed Wednesday evening, March 2nd in a single vehicle accident. She was one of the waitresses at King's Cafe in Montgomery. I don't have a picture of her. She was one of the short petite girls, long blonde hair, and always a friendly smile. For several years she always took great care of us at our bike nights. We will all miss her greatly.

From the Conroe Courier:
GRIMES COUNTY -- A Montgomery High School senior died in a one-car accident on FM 1486 just north of Dacus Wednesday night.

Morgan Gillis, 17, was traveling north on the roadway when her vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, striking trees on the west side, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Clay Brown.
It is unclear at this time why Gillis' vehicle left the roadway, he said. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
It's possible that Gillis could have fallen asleep, Brown said.
The accident occurred at 7:04 p.m. approximately 1 mile from the Grimes-Montgomery county line on FM 1486 near Dear Run, said Grimes County Sheriff Donald Sowell.
When officials arrived on the scene, Gillis was already deceased, he said.
It is believed she was killed instantly, Sowell said.
The girl was reportedly going to see her boyfriend in Anderson and had just bought her prom dress at the time of the wreck, Sowell said.
"This is a real tragedy," he said.
The family was on the scene of the accident, but chose not to comment.
DPS is still investigating the accident.

The funeral will be this coming Saturday. Not sure what time or where.

Adios,

My most sincere condolences to her family. My teenage daughter just got her license last week so this hits close to home for several reasons.

I can't help but think that God has other plans for someone so young and gifted.

Vaughn, Tomoko and I stopped in at King's yesterday @ lunchtime and we left them a card. The funeral had taken place ealier in the morning. They were all still pretty shaken by this tragedy, but they're getting on. If anyone would like to help out Morgan's family, they are accepting contributions at King's to help cover the costs of her funeral and burial.
