Shiver me timbers: a new Aprilia

Got a close look at the new Shiver 750 at ExImports in Houston today. What a sweet bike! Very comfortable standard riding position. Footpegs mounted fairly low so I was not cramped in the least (I'm 6' tall). Very interesting frame and suspension design. Priced at 9 grand, with 2 year warranty.

I hadn't heard or seen anything about this bike before, so it took me totally by surprise. Seems like a good choice for someone who wants an Italian exotic for local riding, commuting, and short-ish country jaunts.

Thoughts, anyone?

. Seems a bit heavy at almost 420lbs dry, though.

The Yamaha FZ6 comes in at 410lbs with similar power. I do like the Aprilia though...................

I rode the Shiver in June at AF1 about 10 miles, then put about 125 miles on a MANA.
The Shiver has similar ride and ergo's as the Tuono, just a little less grunt. Very smooth motor , with good fueling all all rpm's. This Shiver had Leo Vince' cans and sounded really good. The pricing of these bikes is good considering the current exchange rate with Europe.
The first "Dorsoduro" version of the Shiver competed in the Pikes Peak Hillclimb last week and did quite well:

Eurosport has had a Shiver on the floor for a few weeks now. I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet.

Read the link I posted, it's all there.
I like the MANA a lot, seamless power, handling on par with pretty much any production street bike currently(although the forks are non adjustable )
If Aprilia put that motor and drivetrain into a "cruiser" model that had
"standard" styling they wouldn't be able to build enough for demand.
Regarding the CVT belt, recommended replacement intervals is
around 12K miles, the belt is about $50.00 and actual labor time is less than 1 hour.

They have one at the KTM shop in Lubbock. They are a bit more in price though. I really like the looks of them.

Its nice looking no doubt, but is it just me or are a lot of new street bikes starting to look a lot like dirt bikes?
