Left out at about noon thirty and went down 30 to Carlos from College Station, then took a right onto 244 then right onto 3090.
Ran into an accident on 3090. There was a group of about 20+ crusiers on the side of the road. Apparently one of them had hit a corner a little too hot and lost it. When we came by there was just a cop car there and everyone was standing around. The bike was on the south side of the road facing west. Somehow the bike flipped and was facing the opposite way of how it went into the corner. It was caught by the barbed wire fence. I'm guessing it was the owner of the bike who was sitting up against it with a bunch of road rash on his face. He looked completely dazed. Then about 10 feet later there was a lady laying ont he ground witha bunch of people around her. They had covered her in a thermal blanket. As we left that area we saw an ambulance speeding that way. Right before we had hit that area (like the turn right before it) a groupd of about 15 riders was coming from there. ALL of them told us to slow down and use our heads....so we knew it was coming up....
So we went half way down 3090 to 149 and took 149 through teh forrest down to Montgomery. We stopped at the Montgomery Steak house and had lunch then went on down 149 to 1488. Took a right onto 1488 and went to 362. Took a right onto 362 and stayed on there till105 then took it into navasota. Fro there we took 105 to 2193, which then turns into 1155. Took that back around to 912 then back out to 105. Form there we took 159 back home to welborne.
all told it was like 200 miles.
I don't think I have ever seen so many bikes out on the road before in my life! Yesterday when I was coming back form houston I counted 74, and that was at like 6pm, on the way down there saturday morning I lost count, but it was over 60...and that's just going 6 to 290 in my car to see my mom!! Today they had to be in the hundreds! 200, easy!
Anyways, hope everyone else got to go ride this weekend! Other than the wind, I don't know if it could have been any better!

Well, i did about 200 miles myself, but in my case i started in tomball at about 8 am, the roads were deserted, weather was awesome and my bke this time wanted more speed and more ean angle, i guess i woke up on the right side of the bed this morning. i finally went top 3090 againafter a few months without checking it out..boy, what a road, then i checked some of 244 and came back again.
I would love to do it again tomorrow, but the wifey wants me to spend some time with out 14 months old (like he cares) so we're going to do some errands together, so it'll be diaper and gerber time for me.

I went on 1155 the first time. What a cool road. Hills. Turns. Not that populated. A fun run road. 8-)

I'll make up for it next weekend. I'm planning to take my Wing and camper up to Cressen, race the mini endurance, ride home. About 14 hours on the road for me. It won't be a FUN ride, just getting to the track. That stint from Cameron to Waco seems to take forever. Actually, the ride from Victoria to Waco seems to take forever...LOL!
I think I may have seen you on 1155. I saw a TON of bikes out today too. One just happened to be a Duc on 1155 -- haven't seen many ducs around town, but that just may be not looking :D (I'm on a black ZZR1200 - had hard bags on today.)
Hope the couple on 3090 will be ok :( Always sucks when someone goes down.
I agree, it was a GREAT day for riding. I did welborn -> 159 -> 105 -> 1155 -> 390 ->1697 yesterday and camped out at Nails Creek. Was probably the best ride I've had in years. Then I rode back the same way today and had another one of the best rides I've had in years :D
Another amazing thing? EVERYONE waved and I saw a TON of sport tourers and wings today. Cruisers were by far the most represented, then came the sport tourers and wings followed by sport bikes. I was impressed!

:tab I found a Trooper on FM 149... I was not hauling butt, but I was speeding so he popped me. I really had nowhere safe to pull over so I convinced him to follow me about a mile and a half to a small parking lot where I could get off the road. He was totally cool about it. I pulled over at the little community center across the road from where Mark Eggers was killed. Got me for 71 in a 60, my bad for forgetting that Montgomery County does not post 70 on the FM's like most every other county does :headbang: While we are standing there talking, we can here numerous I4's screaming down the road coming out of Richards. He even comments that perhaps he should be going after them instead of me  They cruise by nice and relaxed in their T-shirts and jeans with their girls on the back similarly dressed. Then he comments that I seem to be much better outfitted for such riding  I was all yessir, no sir, and such. He let me off with a written warning :dude: Nice guy!! I made a point of slowing down and taking in the incredibly beautiful evening. I mentioned Mark's accident and he told me he had the unfortunate luck of working that accident. We both stood silent briefly in a shared moment of understanding :-|
:tab I cruised on down through Richards and headed South on FM 1486 towards Daucus. I was looking to see if I could find the place where Morgan was killed recently. You may recall she was a waitress at King's cafe. I spotted a place that looked like a vehicle had gone off the road into the ditch, but no tree that looked like it had been hit by a truck. A few more miles up the road and I found the site. It is impossible to miss. There are several LARGE crosses, a large tree missing a LOT of bark and countless flowers. I stopped to take a look around and to consider what had happened here on an evening quite similar to this one. Her truck left the road and hit a tree about 8-10" in diameter, snapping the trunk off about bumper high. The base of the severed piece came to rest about another 30-40 feet into the woods. The truck stopped when it hit another tree about 18" in diameter. There are still tons of pieces of the truck laying around and in the woods. Seeing this and reading all the notes left by her family and friends was a very sobering reality.
:tab The rest of the ride back up through the forest on FM 149 was a nice reflective cruise. Life is a strange thing. Even knowing how brief it can be, it is still hard not to take it all for granted. Strange indeed...
I went out today as well. Took the backroads northeast of Georgetown just to say I got to ride. Who knew the top speed of an SV650S was 137 mph indicated? It was a long, straight road.

:tab Hmmm... All I could get was 130 on the money at almost redline in top gear and in full tuck... :scratch Maybe you had a tail wind? My road is nice and straight, real wide shoulders and flat, perfect visibility for a long way and no side roads or drives. Still... it is a little risky ;-)

It is very possible. It would have been me behind Monte. I was on my Black Sport and he was on his italian colored Monster. he in the lead on 1155. We hit up that road about 4-5:30 - somewhere in that time frame...hard to keep track of time when you are riding....even when you have a timex strapped to your tripple tree...lol

Adios,
Are you talking about Beth's SV or Squeaky's?
Fuel injection and different cams on the '03 - '05 models are probably the difference. Supposedly good for 4 hp difference over the previous models. I also have an aftermarket exhaust. Pretty stiff wind yesterday too, so maybe that helped a little as well.

:tab It was on Squeaky's. Beth does not have an SV and Deb was out riding on hers. After 100 miles, my various joints were killing me! I've gone soft spending all that time riding my GS
:tab Coming home through the forest on FM 149, I noticed some Dogwood trees blooming. The Azaleas in my neighborhood are blooming like crazy!! Sunday monring the Pine pollen started falling. Everything is now coated in yellow pollen  About the time it will let up is when the Oak trees will start doing the same thing. Love bugs should be just around the corner... :-|
Adios,
It was on Squeaky's.
Ah-Ha! It was the slower Orange model.
For some reason I keep thinking Beth had an SV at one time. I guess I'm confusing it with the VFR and thinking of Debbie's (now) bike that was there when I came to your house.

Beth had an 01 SVS in blue a few years back. Then she got the blue VFR and we sold the SV, I think in fall of 02?

Another amazing thing? EVERYONE waved Put in about 200 miles on Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised that EVERYONE waved. I think everyone who owns a bike was out this weekend, I may have seen a record number of bikes out. We went from Angleton Ice House (no beers for us, thank you) by Brazos Bend Park, Winner Foster Road, Doziers, 1489 up to Racers Road. If there was alcohol involved in any of those 3090 accidents I can't bring myself to feel sorry for them. Boozers on cruisers are losers.

Great weekend.
I went to Austin this weekend on the bike. Saw a LOT of Texans on two wheels. The wind was strong but not too gusty. On the way home I saw blue bonnets abound on 290. Even saw a fellow biker stop and take pictures of the huge yellow pasture of flowers next to the blue bonnets.
The wind died down on my way home to Htown on Sunday. :-D
Great weekend!

HOLD THE BOAT
First of all, it's COPPER
Second of all, I've hit 134 on it with no wind, but it was a slight downhill.
Third of all - thanks for taking her out for some excercise!

:rofl
I have been wondering when you were gonna comment...
She needed the exercise. Sitting over there in the corner of the garage she looked lonely and neglected :-| Insurance is $384/6 months. I won't be keeping that long! They prorate it though so I can cancel it at anytime and get the unused portion of the premium back.

Yeah, it took me a while to get on this because work has been a little hectic. Sorry, I might have actually allowed 12 hours to pass by without seeing this forum!
I didn't even think about you insuring it for YOU to ride - I had always thought it would be an option for Beth. Either way, have fun, take care of her, and don't forget to wash her off if she happens to wander off into the dirt...
