 Ok, before the jokes start, here's the deal:
I have small hands and am finding my throttle hand starting to numb after about 30 minutes with the stock grip. It *could* be because I have a death grip still, but I am working on that and wiggling individual fingers as conditions allow. I still have a bit of numbness after a while though. Have any of you switched to the Kuryakyn ISO grips? Has it improved the feel of the grip? My concern is that the diameter of the grip will increase and make it difficult for me to feel comfortable controlling the bike.
One of the dealers in town recommended that I try a foam grip, but I think they're ugly - at least the ones I've seen. And, I can't really go with something that screams "sportbike" because it won't look right. Fit and fashion - is there such a thing???
I'm sure there are aspects I'm overlooking but I figured I'd check with the awesomest group of bikers on the planet first :sun: before I plunked down the money for a new set of grips.
For what it's worth, I wear a ladies large or sometimes a men's small in gloves though the fingertips are usually a bit long.
Ok, let the peanut gallery begin... :zen:

Have you tried a Throttle Rocker? I can't ride more than about half an hour without one. My throttle hand and fingers go numb without one. At speed just rest the heel of your hand on the rocker instead of gripping. I have the old style Throttle Rocker that I can easily twist around the grip out of the way for riding in close traffic and parking lots. It helps me avoid unintentional wheelies.

Not yet. I want to get the grips comfortable first to adjust for my learning curve. Also, I'm a bit weary that I might catch the Throttle Rocker when I shift my hand for braking or just rolling off the throttle and then  ... Someone also recommended switching out my gloves to one with a gel-pad but that still doesn't eliminate the uncomfortable stock grip...

Bought the ISO grips off an eBay buy-it-now and then found that the seller has them direct online for $3 less. Oh well. Hoping to get the grips before Friday so I have time to put them on for our ride on Saturday.
Buy the throttle boss to go with them.

Try wrist curls and reverse wrist curls in the gym. These help strengthen your grip and forearms.

The guy from the eBay store just called me and I've got them on order! Woo hoo! I got the "Extended Throttle Boss." It's supposed to have an extra 1/4" of space.

What's a gym? :lol2: I have a 9-year old - does that count?

Ladies LG glove is generally about a Mens MD. Make sure you're not cutting off your circulation with too tight a glove.
The throttle boss should help a lot. The Kury grips will be considerably bigger than the stock grips. Try them in your hand before putting them on the bike to convince yourself they're not too big.
Also, when installing the grips with their glue, be sure to push them on completely in one motion. If you stop halfway, it will be stuck halfway.

My girlfriend got the ISO grips and she's got small hands also. She said they took a little bit of getting used to but she says the advantages outweigh the size difference. We'll see... Only one way to find out...
Does the glue come with it or will I need to get some? Suggested brand?
Are they easy to put on? I have the service manual but haven't looked in there yet.

Wow, 2 days later, the grips are in! What an excellent shopping experience with this place! They shipped on Monday, I received yesterday! Oh, and the grips come with a little bottle of glue. Now, I'm off to try to find out how to remove the stock grips and will attempt to put on the Kury's on the bike tonight!

Ok, so I am totally peeved! :miffed: I went to start the grip installation last night and couldn't get farther than the second screw to remove the switch housing for the throttle grip. Tried a different philips head, nothing. Then J came home and he tried it. Nothing. It wouldn't budge. Problem is, according to the instructions, the throttle grip "ferrules" (throttle wire guides?) need to go inside the switch housing for proper installation. I am counting down the minutes until my dealer opens... I have some words to say to them... :angryfire
Our initial guess is they used Loc-Tite on the screw threads... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I know nothing about the grips, but a thought on the numbness in your hands - from time to time I tighten the velcro wrist straps on my gloves too tight and it starts to make my fingers go numb. Try loosening the glove closure and see if it helps some.
an you get an impact driver on the screws?

Excellent idea! I'll try that. I may be tightening my gloves too much and not even realizing it. I'll try them a little looser today and I'll see how it goes.

Um, yeah - that's exactly what I had to do, EXCEPT that I didn't know what one was so when I called the dealer yesterday morning, they said for me to bring it in and they'd use one of those. Even the Yamaha tech was surprised how tightly that screw was put on there. He had to hit it 3 times before it even budged. That made me feel better that I'm not a 90# weakling.
Got the grips put on for me for $20. I guess it was worth it. But, I immediately felt a difference for the better on the ride home so I'd say it was a success.
We're heading out for a long ride this morning so I'll have a better report when we get back.

Excellent ride yesterday! We went about 110 miles. Hey, that's big stuff for me. Would have gone further if we'd have gotten our lazy butts out the door faster but as it was, things started getting hot and I still get overheated.
Now, the grips: I LOVE THEM! I felt completely comfortable the whole ride. After about 45 minutes, I did some finger wiggles and went back to status quo. Couldn't recommend them enough!
