Woot! This is the one I am signing up for. One question though, the $100.00 price is not coming up, it is showing the $120.00 one.

Which track is this going to be on, short or full?

The Price is going to be $100 as advertised (they are working to have this changed on the web site).
The track will be the original 1.7mi in the CCW direction. FUN AS **** !!!
Oh man...I'm going to need a part time job for this... heh.
Alright!! My confirmation came through, and the fee has been paid. I am in for my first tack day in 11 short days. Wooo Hooo!
Who is in with me?

Glad to see you come out Ed. You will have a blast.
Trust me, do not feel intimidated. Everything you hear about track days is largely a fallacy. You will ride at your own speed, at your own comfort level.
Crashing will largely depend on what you do. If you can control your urges and not race others (just do your own thing), you will come out of this with a huge grin on yer mug. The classroom instruction will be very informative as well.
See you there.
Oh no worries about that. I have heard many good things about the structure and pace of level 1. The few parade laps I have done on the heavy bike have me convinced that the 650 will be a great learning platform for me to break the old dirt track tendencies and really start implanting pavement responses deep into my lizard brain.
The grinning is already in place just looking at the pictures from the TWS day on Monday.
As usual, you will get food the night before, as well as drink, and on the day of the event lunch will be served too.
I noted on the web site that lunch would be 30 min. and the above quote from post #1 indicates that Ride Smart will be providing some sort of noon meal on Sunday? Is that correct?

Hmm - this is way tempting.
Question: How does RideSmart feel about me riding my DR-650 with dual-sport tires (Kenda 270's to be exact)?
I usually ride in Intermediate, but would prefer Beginner group if on this bike.
Thanks - John
So far the calendar looks clear for me.

Lunch time varies slightly. It usually is between 30 and 40 minutes. At MSR, RideSmart provides lunch free of charge, as well as drink.
Also, the night before, RideSmart provides dinner too (you guessed it, free of charge). Nothing fancy, but we do have hamburgers, hot dogs, and side dishes). All you can eat.

John, we will be fine with your bike. If it is more than 125cc and is in good mechanical shape (and not leaking fluids), it will be fine. There are many guys riding motards and other types of bikes at our events. I am sure you will have a blast on yours.

I was getting ready to sign up, but the forecast is looking a little iffy. What's the policy if it turns out to be a rainy day?
ciaka

It will largely depend on the owners of the track. If they decide that they will allow a reschedule/cancel of the event and refund the money back to RideSmart, we will be more than glad to work with you on reschedule/cancellation. If they, however, choose to keep the money, RideSmart will be very limited to any kind of choice. This policy goes for any track organization, not just RideSmart.
We have been talking to them about this and they are not showing their cards much yet. I am still positive the weather will work out, especially that Ike is heading more west and not as much NW as before. We will keep an eye on it for sure.
Please call Dave about this if you have any questions. 512.469.9491.
Thank you.

Pfft, cresson in the rain ain't so bad. :trust:
Watching Ike. In the last 24 hours the weather guessers have changed their path prediction dramatically. if they are right we will be getting smacked with heavy rain and 50 mph wind on Sunday.
Waiting and watching, not pulling the plug unless I have to.
Si, some rain=goodtimes...mucho rain = stay home.

A heavy rain opened the door for my first asphalt intimacy experience last Fall... at 40 miles an hour if you can believe. Anyway, I'll keep watching Ike. Can't we just nuke it or something?

are there still spots available?
I'm trying to convince the wife we need to "evacuate" to dallas and take the bike with us.

.. lol.... good way of thinking.
There still should be spaces open. As dhdrider stated, we are monitoring the weather.
Although I could say 'register now, spaces may disappear any time', but I won't. My impartial observations and advice:
We have been monitoring the weather and chances of rain in the Cresson area have been steadily decreasing each day, and are projected to continue to decrease as we get closer to the event.
We are monitoring the weather, and we are hard at work trying to negotiate with the track ownership (who has the final say on whether they will allow cancel/reschedule). We do not have any details yet (have been on the phone with them at least 2 times today).
When we know something, we will be announcing it on all forums, so all those who have signed up, please stay tuned and we will communicate as soon as we can).
If you are interested in attending this track day, the best thing for you to do would be to prepare as if you were going to attend, and hold off with the registration for today at least. Let us all see how the weather is turning, and how the MSR owners are willing to work with us given the situation. There will not be harm in holding for a bit (by Friday we should have more accurate account of what the weather may look like on Sunday).
We want you to be a satisfied customer. All of you who have registered, please know that we are doing everything we can to make this day a success, whichever way it turns out to be (ride or not). Unfortunately it is not all in our powers, and we ask that you approach this situation with understanding. We will update ASAP.
Thank you and talk to you soon.

bummer that the day was canceled, though understandable houston is a mess.
the weather was absolutly perfect today in DFW.
Hopefully I'll make it out to TWS with you guys on the 27th.

Hey poser, if you do not want to wait until the 27th, or do not feel like coming all the way down, you can attend the ECR event with us on the 20th. It is still $100 and the weather is promising to be PERFECT (mid 80s and almost no chance of rain).
Anyway, your choice. We will be glad to have you with us any time.

well ECR is a lot further (coming from katy) than TWS, and we have stuff going on that weekend. I hope to hit ECR next year though.
We were supose to spend the weekend of the 27th with my in-law's at their beach house in galvestong, but that's not going to happen now, so track day it is.

Looks like ECR on the 20th is going to work out. Woot! Can't wait.
I have a prior motorcycle trip planned for teh 2oth, and work interferes with the 27th, but Sunday October 5 is looking very good for me! I will use my paid day from the 14th on that one back at Cresson. Do I just have to call RideSmart to transfer that day?

Yes, you need to call 512-469-9491 and get them to register you for the 5th using your Oct 14th credit. 8-)

Just a heads up guys I just tried to book a hotel for TWS on the 27 and every hotel I tried is booked. I guess alot of evacuees from down south. Do they allow camping on the grounds?

Likely a game weekend. That place is a cult on game weekends. Overnights are possible. Be ready for the allnight chuckleheads though. Unless Dave has developed an iron handed curfew, you won't get much sleep. ;-)

The last few times I heard Dave announce around 11PM that everyone needs to be quiet to allow people to sleep. Not saying there is total silence then, but as stated, the last few events it was really big change from before.
TWS charges track organization riders $15 per car to camp overnight. Just FYI. They close/lock gates around 10-11PM and do not open until 6am.
