My legs and whole body is aching now, but it was so worth coming to this event.
Great thanks to the instructors, Guy, Dirk, Ty, etc, etc for making this day a H U G E Success !!!!

What a day it was. Started off with some threads flying here and there, with worries about hurricane Gustav. As my predictions stated, Gustav was nowhere to be found on Monday. Mostly sunny, the day was still on the warm side, but the track was just awesome, even early on in the day.

From what I observed, riders were just having a ton of fun out there. Lots of great riding was had by everyone participating.
It was great to see all the levels increase their skills at the track. Especially in level 1, all riders seemed to tremendously increase comfort and speed in the afternoon.

Once again, we would like to thank all of you for coming out to the event. Your support of our school is greatly appreciated.

The photographer for the day was Doug from digital photo cafe. I believe to get online photos, one will have to email him.
There were also many cw people that were taking pictures at the track. So if you are one of them, and you do have pics of the event, please consider posting them up online somewhere and then providing a link to all those who were there. Big thanks for you in advance for this effort.

Don't forget, RideSmart is hosting another 3 events this month, all of which are sure to make a great day of riding. Here are the dates:

September 14 - Sunday - @ MSR - $100
September 20 - Saturday - @ ECR - $100 (week before the race weekend at this track)
September 27 - Saturday - @ TWS - $135

We do hope you will decide to join us at some of the events. Until then, take care and ride safe - RideSmart.

i told myself i wouldn't pay for a track day and would do corner work but **** it lol... just too hard to pass up all this.

Thanks Dirk for taking charge of the crazy folks in level 2 early on and letting them know that any more messing around would get them gone for the day =). made life better for us.

Learned a lot out there from the classroom and videos provided. I finally am starting to carry some speed (don't piss on my parade i think it's speed ok lol)

see you all soon!

Sorry that I am SO late. I had finals and a new class to start so my writing has been more focused on that. I do have to say as this was my first track day that I had a BALL!!!
I was very nervous about the round robin, but once I made my first lap, I knew I would be ok. I took every change that I could to work on my corner entries and exits. I know that I was very slow and often tripped up and slowed down the other riders. Despite this they were all very nice and considerate of my riding. I did well the first part of the day. I am not sure if it was the food, or the heat or me beign tired, just the second part I did not ride as well. (in my opinion)
On the last part of the track there is the last three fast turns. I over shot my entry, basically I did not execute my turn and knew it when I was almost there. So instead of trying to go for the turn, I opted to dirt bike across the grass and enter back on the track. I was able to do it well, and did not interupt any other riders gettign back on. I was agrivated about it. My instructer Guy came and said that it was ok, I still did well. So, I sat out one set and cooled off. by this time it was the last full set. So, I hit the track yet again!!
Next thing I know I am gettign black flags pointed at me!! I was thinking that I have never felt such dread. I just KNEW that me being so slow caused a wreck behind me and someone was hurt....
So, I exited off the track and there was Guy. My stomach SANK...All I could think was that they were gunna tell me to go home and come back when I was better...
So, I pulled up beside him and raised my visor up waiting to be told...
Guy looked at me and said "Do you know what you did??"
I said, well I did not turn right into 6?? (which was what he kept telling me through out the day)
he said "NO..... you won smooth rider award,, go see Dave" and smiled..
I was thinking that I did not hear him right on the way over.. and I just knew that Dave would say..ooppsss.. sorry,, wrong bike,,heh
However, he never did. Instead I got to do ain interview of my opinion of the track, instructers and my opinion of racing!! What was even MORE cool was that Dave told me that I am one of two women to get this award!!
Yep,, boy did I have stories for the girls at the office Monday!!!

Despite winning the award, and all of that I do have to say that I can not wait for the next track day! the instructers are so helpful. through out the day I was able to talk to almost all of the level one instructers. I noticed in the pictures that I found that in many of them riding behind me were one of them, watching to give advice about how I was doing, offering information and assistance. I have to say that this is one of the neatest experiences that I have ever been a part of!!
I HIGHLY recomend that any guy reading this to bring your wife, girlfriend or even friend of the female pursuasion out to the track. I would be happy to testify that IT ROCKS and is very safe..... well.. the only REAL advantage to being one of very very few women riders is the bathrooom line IS shorter...:trust: ...

I give huge KUDOS to the Ridesmart gang,, thank you guys SO much for your instruction, hard work adn dedication to safety... I will be back to as many as I possible can!!! :sun:

We would like to thank you for your write up. We are glad that you enjoyed yourself. We have noticed many riders that have never ridden the track before are scared or intimidated before the first session. You are proof that they have nothing to worry about, and that track riding is about fun and learning.
Also, as you have noticed, you are proof for us that faster is not always the key. It is being smooth, and as you found out, it WILL make people better riders.

So keep it up. Glad to have you with us. Whenever you are ready, we will be happy to have you join us again (we do have another TWS outing on Sept 27th... :trust: ).

Until next time, take care.
