She is confused :-P Big Bend is mid April. Kerrville is the end of April ;-) As far as deserts... hopefully Mac & Ernie's will have some of that sinful Italian Creme Cake... I get a sugar buzz just thinking about it.

Ok, I had a long weekend, and yes, I'm confused. I don't know if I'm making the Kerrville trip, so I will let you guys know.
Is Round Top on for April 30th?
This is from another post about Pie Runs. So not sure if it is Round Top or Edom.
26 February: Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls
26 March: Royer's Round Top Cafe in Round Top
30 April: The Shed in Edom
28 May: Koffee Kup in Hico
25 June: Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls
30 July: Royer's Round Top Cafe in Round Top
27 August: The Shed in Edom
24 September: Koffee Kup in Hico
29 October: Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls
26 November: Royer's Round Top Cafe in Round Top
31 December: The Shed in Edom
I don't know after the last pie run... I may have to swear off the stuff or at least make my own... I have been known to make a pretty mean cheescake... but you never know...

Anyone figure this out? I don't know how accurate that list is, since it shows the March run should have been to Round Top, not Marble Falls.

Marble Falls in Feb never happened (well, it happened for about 6 people) so we used March as a do-over. This moves all of the other locations back a month, which means that April's Pie Run should be in Round Top.
So, who lives near there to make sure 1)they will be open, 2)they will be able to accomodate a large group, 3)they will have lots of yummy pie, 4)mother nature and murphy's law will cooperate

I'm thinking:
1. Tourmeister?
2. Snoopster?
3. Someone from the Houston group that lives on the NW side of town?
Thanks, Rebecca, for answering the question about the schedule. Jen and I are planning on coming.

:tab Round Top is a pretty good haul from here for an evening ride and I don't have any free weekends. I am working on a location nearer to Houston. All pies and cakes would be made from scratch. The kicker is that we'd have to pay for them even if everyone bails out because of the weather. So people would have to kick in a few bucks prior to the ride and it would be non-refundable if they did not make it. I can testify to the tastiness of the cook's talents!!

If they can't accommodate the crowd, there is a church or something across the street that has some tables and benches I think. I am sure the run of bad weather for these rides has to be about over.

As a follow-up to the Eateries thread that wczimmerman refers to, I visited Pie Town today. A nice enough place, decent food, decent prices, but waaaay too small for our needs if we have a large turnout.
Outside are 5 tables with a total of 10 chairs. Inside are 8 tables with a total of 24 chairs. There is a large covered area next to the shop (it's in a large upscale strip mall) but you'd have to sit on the concrete.
The kitchen is a one-man show, so if 50 people showed up it would be a long time before your sandwich is ready if you're #50 to order.
I think this would be a good enough place for a group of 10-15 but anything beyond 20 would really be stretching their resources. I suggest that this NOT be inlcuded as one of the mass pie rides.

I still haven't told the lady at The Shed in Edom that we won't make it this month. I was going to call her this week. There is a place on the square in Crockett called the Moosehead Cafe?. I ate there about a year ago but couldn't tell you about the pie....food was good though and plenty of room as I remember.

:tab Um... The bakery in our local Brookshire Bro's grocery has great stuff: cakes, pies, donuts, and other assorted artery clogging agents ;-) lots of parkind and seating space too :-P Of course the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired.
:tab I think we will run into a recurring issue concerning kitchen capacity. Few of the smaller cafe's can handle getting hit with 50-60 people at once, even with advance warning. They just cannot prepare that amount of food at one time. So we have to be prepared for some people to wait a while to get their food. This is a problem at King's Cafe simply because of the limited size of their kitchen.
:tab There are always places like The Cheesecake Factory

OK, how 'bout this:
Burton Café
107 Washington Street Burton TX 77835 (979) 289-3849 Country café Home baked pies and country cooking
It was featured in the Brenham-Washington county Attaction guide:
Inexpensive
This little country café about 12 miles west of Brenham serves home cooking, including fresh baked pies and breads, that keeps Texans coming back. There s live entertainment Saturday nights (it s closed Sundays).
OR
Must Be Heaven
107 West Alamo Street, Brenham, TX 409-830-8536 Inexpensive Some people come here for the heavenly pies and ice cream, but you also will find soups and sandwiches that are tasty.
My vote? Burton Cafe. The local restaurant mags for Texas and online blogs seem to review it highly. Can anyone scope it out? We're starting to get a bit tight on the time... :help:

April 30th-time of arrival depends on the preference of the manager. Generally, between 11AM-12:30PM.

2. Either place is a pretty good haul for the Dallas types, but I guess that is why we have rotating locations...

1. About how many?
Well, that depends on the weather. I would say probably around 25 as a ballpark figure. If the weather is good that number could go up to Hico-like numbers (70+). If the weather is bad, you can plan on Squeaky.
Thanks for checking this out. This is a planned date for Jen and I every month and we haven't been able to make the last 2, so we're looking forward to this coming one.

Yes, I've cleared the date for this one. Once again, I am going to brave the hail, sleet, snow, and whatever else mother nature throws at us in my best attempt to get some PIE!!! Although I've started the journey every month, I've only actually made it to the first one...

Just Got off the phone w/ Must Be Heaven in Brenham. Relevant details-
1. They can accomodate 25+ people for April 30
2. They are very busy between 11:00 and 12:30
I understood this to mean we could arrive whenever, but have to "cycle through" like "normal  " customers
3. Their private dining room is already booked, we would be in the regular dining area
I told them to put us down, and we would call to confirm prior to the event.

Well, Bud must have been going. Throw-in that it is a Pie-Run and its a sure fire given its going to be a rainy day.
I think we should start calling them "Sweet, baked confections" Runs instead, maybe that would lift the curse.

Andy I will have you know I was the only one that did not get rained on today, It was raining before I left and I rode around all the storms and arrived dry, it rained as we ate and the clouds parted for my departure. Others fared a slightly more moisture laden trip

Not so much for the Houston Riders. It was cold and there was a terrible head/cross wind plus traffic was heavy on 290 but we got a little road spray and maybe a few drops but that was it.
My gas mileage for the trip to the BMW dealership and then home improved from 35 mpg to 43 mpg and I was riding faster on the way home than on the way up.

Yep, I'm sorry to be a no-show. I rode through rain, thunder, lightning, 40 mph winds, and 49 degree temps, and was actually ahead of schedule. But by the time I was a few miles east of Giddings I was miserable... Did a u-turn at Ledbetter and headed for home. Hope ya'll had fun, how many people showed?
By 1pm I was drinking beer under blue skies and blinding sunlight at the Pecan Street Festival in Austin.

Bobcat must have just missed you I came up through Ledbetter from the south and headed into Brenham from there, yea by the time I got back to the house it was sunshine and about 80  , figures just as I pull into the garage. By the way I stopped and talked to an old friend that said we missed a big hail storm there ealier this morning. I think there were 7 of us and my Pie Run Ironman Title still stands

Dang, glad I missed the hail... I was keeping my eyes open for possible TWTexans all the way. I chatted with one guy on a Honda VTX at an Exxon in Elgin, he was wearing wet jeans, and wasn't very happy. I've decided that from now on I'm not going to say I'm a "Definite" for any Pie Run.
