OK, I seeded this thread with comments from this one (http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28063).

Check what you might have signed up for ages ago & we'll make any necessary changes.

If you are confused: Hutto is in the rotation this month.

BUT, the simpler theme: Pie, anywhere, anytime on 10/25/2008

Chuck, I created a subforum for Pie Run locations. This way, there is one place to go to look for locations or to list the locations if there is not one in an area where someone wants to be. You should be the only one that can start threads in that forum. The idea, as presented by Tracker, is this:

[Hutto, Tx] Debbie's Pies at The Texan Cafe 11:0am CST.
[Dallas, Tx] blah blah blah
[Melbourne, Australia] blah blah blah...

Anyone wanting to add a location should provide the info on the place and give to Chuck.

Beth and I are strong maybes for Hutto, with the kids... :eek2:

I'm doing my best to get a Panhandle representation for IPRD, and I have posted a thread in the Panhandle rides section to get discussion going. I am proposing the Overlook on highway 207, about 30 miles south of Claude, TX. It is the tail end of Palo Duro State Park, absolutely beautiful there. I'm sure most of the distance riders on the forum know the spot.

Special welcome to any TWT rider especially those in the Panhandle and southern areas, Abilene, Midland, Childress, etc.

Chirpy, it's a deal!

I find that a super scoot is just the most practical ride for me for now. It's also my first two-wheeled ride. I can handle a standard transmission (8 out of 10 of the cars I've owned were standards), but the twist-and-go simplicity of the scoot is GREAT.

Also did a 300 mile ride with a few other scooter owners a couple weeks ago. Had a blast!

Here's my ride:

I really want to go to this one, but alas, it's the same day as UIL Area marching contest.

You can always find a place for eats/pie, but time spent with your kids is fleeting at best. Enjoy the contest. And good luck to yours.

Do you have a DFW to Hutto route set up yet?

Nothing written but here it is (now):

Staging at the same old Minyards as before: 6:45 AM (Yes, I know, it's still dark then)
LeMans start at precisely 7:00 (I can't be late again)

Route:
slab I20 and I35W to US67 @ Alvarado (get a quick start)
US67 business into Cleburne
SH174 south to FM933 near Blum
FM933 to Whitney
SH22 west to Laguna Park
FM56 south to Valley Mills
SH6 east a block or two (gas & rest stop - roughly half way)
SH317 south through McGregor and Moody and SH36
SH36 and US190 around Temple to 95
95 south to Taylor loop (397 I think)
Loop around Taylor to US79
US79 to Hutto

Return route open - probably similar but may go back thru Meridian instead...

I think Steve and Wendy are planning to leave a little later if this is too early. Maybe they will pipe in.

How does that sound?

Hey Chuck, I put your directions into a .gpx file. I did a 2nd one going thru Manfield and staying off of the 820/35 bridge. There is a return route for you thru Meridian. :rider:

aharbi
10-24-2008, 12:49 PM
If I may offer a perhaps safe suggestion on directions. Hwy 79 is very busy and on the fast side. East street (where Debbie's Pies is located) does not have a traffic light where it intersects with Hwy 79. Those coming from the west on 79 will have to cross on coming traffic and watch your backside as there is no turning lane. It may be safer to proceed a hundred feet to the traffic light at 1660 which has a turning lane and a turn on green signal. Go one block, turn left on Farley, right on East St. Also, as you make the turn onto 1660 you can actually see Debbie's Pies across the open field to the left.

Well, in the interest of the safety and wellfare of my fellow Two Wheel Texans, I had pie and tea at the Texan Cafe today during a beautiful Friday afternoon ride east of Round Rock, just to make sure it was up to the high standards of this group. It was excellent as usual. They are ready for us tomorrow, they were expecting 50, I told them the last count was 50-65....they are really nice, stated we can park in the lot across the street for overflow parking, they open at 11am....Bill

For those coming from the north, taking Hwy 29 in Georgetown to 1660 bypasses 79 altogether and is a much less stimulating ride. You can do the same thing coming south on 95.
