Got this from a friend today

Big Changes for SPEED Channel's Weeknight Lineup: the Sports Business Daily cites a Sports Business Journal article that breaks the news of some big programming changes during weeknights at SPEED Channel. Here's a summary:
-- Less racing and more magazine shows during prime time.
-- Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain will now be live from 9:00 - 10:00 each night.
-- The "Two Wheel Tuesday" and "Dirty Thursday" programming of motorcycle and dirt track racing is "eliminated."
-- A NASCAR programming block will air each weeknight from 6:00 to 8:00.
-- There will be more NASCAR programming during the day on Fridays.
-- There will be no more extended replays of the Winston Cup race on Wednesday nights. Instead, only a highlights package with "the most exciting portions" will be shown.
AND more MotorsportsTV heard from Speed....
-- The motorcycle shows are being re-worked and will air in the 10:00 p.m. slot on Tuesday.
-- "Two Wheel Tuesday" will continue in some form, but the entire day won't be dedicated to motorcycles.
-- There will be racing every night from 10:00 to midnight.
-- No original programming is being removed.(MotorsportsTV <http://www.motorsportstv.com/06242003.htm>)(6-24-2003)

We have been talking about it for a year now, that since FOX took over SPEED, that it was nly a matter of time before they pushed out the bikes. First it was Motorcyclist, now this. Makes you want to walk into some FOX execs office and :biggun:

What am I going to do to get my racing fix now?

I sent them some feedback via their website. Told 'em to keep the racing, but they can scale back on some of the Harley-rama stuff ;). Also mentioned that supercross is apparently the #2 motosport in terms of US fan interest (after NASCAR).

I stressed that I watch Speed a LOT more now that I've gotten into watching MotoGP and superbike racing.

Probably went into the bit bucket, but hey, I tried.

Perhaps we should just light up the Wind Tunnel call-in lines complaining about any reduced moto-coverage... :)

"Two Wheel Tuesday" will continue in some form, but the entire day won't be dedicated to motorcycles.

When was the ENTIRE day EVER dedicated to motorcycles??!! Surely they are not referring to their current level of content? There is more NASCRAP on Tuesday than motorcycling. I feel like we are having the NASCRAP shoved down our throats :x

I think calling ol Dave and letting him know is a great idea. What's the number and when does his show come on?

Anyone actually watched this show? I have seen it once or twice and thought it was complete garbage. And now we are getting 5 days a week!!!! :puke:

I like DD doing the shows like Bike Week or Motorcyclist but as a talk show host he just blows.

There will be more NASCAR programming during the day on Fridays.

How the **** do you have "more NASCRAP programming than 100%"?

Hehe, maybe they're expanding the pre- and post-race coverage. I watched a few seconds of that once. Once. ;)

Plus, there's always room for more short-track car racing, right?

Anybody catch the commercial where Michael Andretti is in a Honda S2000 teaching his son to drive? "Left here. Oh, here's a nice left. Turn left here...."

"Why don't we turn right?"

"Why would we wanna do that?"

The head of speed channel came out in an interview on MCUSA

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/news.asp?News=1&ID=4474

and "sort of" explains things. It's not as bad as I thought, but you guys had better learn how to program your vcrs (or Tivo) if you want to watch racing (no more replays) if your wife or significant other has plans for the week-ends

Thanks for the link.

I've started to record the races on the weekend, so it's no biggie, I guess.

I do agree with the Speed Prez that Nielsen may not be accurately gauging moto-interest. In my case, I watch American Thunder a tiny bit, Ride On a bit more (esp. if it's not all-Harley all the time), then hunker down for the bike racing!

Makes me feel a little better, but if the case is that the regular shows garner more viewers than the replay racing, why did they cut out Motorcyclist and Bike Week?

Guess I am going to have to upgrade my digital TV to the record level so I can get the racing now. I like to ride too much on the weekends to hangout at home all day on Sunday to watch it "Same Day" (except for Daytona, is it ever "Live"?)

:tab Well, now that they have totally screwed Two Wheeled Tuesdays and aren't even showing ANY racing... why would you watch this show? Greg is not that great of a host, the guests tend to be a little on the boring side, and the girls just aren't that cute!? I totally missed the last MotoGP!! This is killing me! Man I hope OLN picks up some of the bike stuff. I simply cannot believe that there are that many people that want to see nothing but Nascrap 24hrs a day!!?? Gimme a break!
