This season RideSmart has instituted a parade lap measure, which allows non participants at a track event, to be able to ride the track for a couple of laps (the number of laps will vary sometimes, but it will be at least 2).

If you are planning to participate in our track events, and you have friends that are thinking of doing same but want to try it before they commit, please feel free to spread the news so they can get on the track and ride it during one of our parade laps.

The following information will serve as rules for the parade laps event with RideSmart:

PARADE LAPS TIME:

The parade laps will take place during lunch break at the track event.
Usually, that will occur around 11:30am, but may vary depending on circumstances. Anyone who wishes to ride the parade laps is encouraged to be present at 11am, to avoid missing the ride.

PARADE LAPS STAGING LOCATION:

Anyone wishing to ride, will be asked to listen for announcements during the track event. Usually, parade lap riders stage near the classroom areas on all tracks. All riders should have the necessary equipment present for the ride.

PARADE LAPS DURATION:

Parade laps will vary in duration, due to time constraints and track layouts, but they will be at least 2 laps.

PARADE LAPS GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

The following gear rules apply to ALL parade lap riders. All gear must be worn by each rider during the parade laps:
1. DOT helmet.
2. Full finger riding gloves.
3. Riding boots
4. Riding jacket
5. At minimum, jeans are to be worn (no shorts/skirts, etc).
6. Eye protection should be worn by riders.

The reason we ask for all this gear will become clear in the next point.

PARADE LAPS PACE:

We classify parade laps into two categories:
- lax on safety and snail slow
- strict on safety and brisk pace

It is our opinion that riders would much rather enjoy a brisker pace during parade laps. This is why we want all riders to have their gear present and worn. Lack of gear will prevent us from letting you enjoy the track more. We will not allow any degree of race pace, or even 'aggressive/spirited' riding, but the pace will be fast enough to enjoy the turns.
To compare, parade laps pace should be somewhat near the round robin pace for level 1.

PARADE LAPS RIDER AGE:

Anyone capable of riding a motorcycle will be able to attend.
Any rider younger than 16 years old will require parental consent to ride the laps.
Small children will not be allowed to sit on the parent's tank for the ride.
Any two up riding will require that the passenger sit in the appropriate location on the motorcycle, and that they conform to all the gear rules stated above.

OTHER PARADE LAPS RULES:

1. There will be absolutely no passing by any rider during the entire ride. The order in which you start your ride will be the same order in which you arrive back.

2. Control riders will monitor all riders for compliance with all rules.

3. Careless play will not be allowed.

4. There will be no behavior that could create a potential to cause harm to others via the actions of the rider.

5. All riders must have fun during the ride.

In light of all the rules, we want to re-iterate that we do want all of you to enjoy yourselves, but we also ask that you do this while practicing common sense and simple safety rules. Doing so will allow everyone to truly experience the track in a way it was meant to be.

Thank you for your help with enforcement of the above.

Thank you Ed29. Now, we hope everyone attending will not have excuses like 'I didn't know'.

Have a great day.

not sure what you mean by saying this...is it a sarcastic comment? Just wondering.

This is nothing new. We have had rules and guidelines, but they were not posted. In light of some events and inquiries from riders compelled us to post it up explicitly.

Now, you know. :trust:

Yep. Parade laps have been around. CMRA has been doing them long before any of the track orgs.

We have had safety measures in place but they have never been published on the forums. We just tought it best for them to be out there so folks don't show up unprepared and expect to be let on the track.

Thanks for the kind words.
