Are there any of these dirt roads/trails within 100 miles of the Metroplex? I've tried googling, but it seems when ya google "trail" it only coughs up 'walking/hiking' trails in state parks and the like...and places where ya have to pay to ride.

You can go 230 miles up to the mountains in south eastern OK. around Smithville./Mena Ar. Great logging trails that extend from OK into Ark.

RobLogging trails. Yeah, that's what I'm looking for, stuff like that. Thanks.

Logging trails, maybe not. But down in the Glen Rose area there are quite a few county roads that are dirt, gravel, and a mix of other textures.

The Grasslands north of Decatur has some nice gravel and good scenery.
Linky (http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/texas/mvum/mvum_maps/texas-nf_lbj_mvum_053008_d-size.pdf)to Forest Service map.
Note, the narrow solid gray lines are paved roads while the larger hollow double lines are the gravel. Seems backwards to me, but oh well.
