:angryfir: I was out riding Fri. and on the way to a friends place one of the back roads was being re-surfaced and I must have kicked up a rock because when I got there 30 min. later I saw a wisp of smoke and saw the bottom of the oil cooler was slightly wet on the left side near the line connection. It seems that it was being wind swept twoards the header. Anyway haven't been able to look at it yet but I need to know what I'm in for cause I'm definately no mechanic. BTW it's on a '02 bandit 1200.Thanks.

I'm a former Bandit 1200S owner (Mine was a 2001). Chances are, you are in the market for an oil radiator. The Bandit engine uses engine oil as it's primary coolant, so don't dare run it low on oil. It's a marvelous engine, but starve it for oil and you will pay the price. Park it until you can replace that oil cooler. There's a remote possibility a radiator shop can possibly repair the oil cooler, but it will have to be completely cleaned of oil residue before they can solder on it. Be sure you have it pressure checked before trying to use it again. Check the Max Suzuki Boards and Bandits R Us boards. Check salvage yards.. You may get lucky.

No longer Bandit owner... it kept me scared too much. Ride a VF750C Honda now....
