We held our S.T.O.R.M. Series Hare Scramble this weekend. It was the first true Hare Scramble of the year and a blast. I don't have an accurate count but there was some where in the neighborhood of 300 racers participating.

We got a bunch of videos from the track but have not converted any to digital files.

Most of the weekend went fine with only a few riders getting injured more than a few scrapes.

One major catastrophe avoided. A racer hit a creek crossing wrong and almost entered into a crowd of spectators only to lose control again and cross the track and crashing into another group of spectators. The bike and rider hit a log two kids were sitting on. The force of the collision was so sever it broke the log into two pieces sending bike, rider and kids flying. Some how the bike never hit or fell on either of the kids. The rider was injured but would not let the paramedics look at him until he was sure the kids were being taken care of. I wrote about this for only one reason, if you are at a race, whether it is a Hare Scramble, SuperMoto, GP, MX, SX or any of the others and a track official asks you to move from an area, please listen to the official. I don't know how many people I asked and then had to demand that they move from area for their own safety. Even those of us that were working the race did not see the potential danger where this crowd was watching from. Use extreme caution when attending a race. You don't know what went thru my mind when I saw the bike hit the log because it looked a whole lot worse than it actually was. Plus it was a real nightmare for the parents, Mom was there and Dad was racing.
