Pricing is based on an expected attendance of 30 paid adult plates, plus 8 pies! If we get more than 30, we'll make sure we have enough to feed everybody and then the extra money will be donated to the site.

What:
Fourth Annual TWT event! We will be celebrating the 12 successful Pie Runs of 2008.

A block of 15 rooms are reserved under Two Wheeled Texans at a discounted rate of $65! Reservations need to made on your own.

The catering will be BBQ (same as previous years):
2 meats (brisket/sausage), 3 veggies, bread, pickles, peppers, onions, tea, and sauce. They have a selection of 8 different pies! The cost covers your dinner and the pie of your choice from those available! We will need to know how many adults and children will be attending, so please list that in your post. Please also list your first and second preference for pie from this list. We are trying to predict the overall number of pies to reduce the leftovers and prevent pie neglect (those rare instances where a pie only has a single slice missing...sad really).

The kiddie numbers might be pretty good this year - if we bring Jamey's two we will consider bringing the Wii to help keep them occupied.

...plus the adults can play after the kiddos go to sleep. ;-)

Probably 2 +2 kids

This option might allow some of our non-Texas residents to participate too... :sun:

I usually try to get a room with two Queen beds. So maybe one or more of the boys could crash in the other unused bed (except for gear  ).

It also depends on how far apart the rooms are but we could probably request something close. Just an option to consider and save some $$$...

Right now, JustJ, Ninja Boy (age 9 going on 19) and I are in. We have a reservation for a room, but they didn't ask for a credit card to secure it so hopefully, we'll have someplace to sleep! :eek2: I've placed a call to Buppy's to find out about their ingredients since Ninja Boy has food issues - no response from them yet. I'll call again tomorrow, work load permitting. We'll have to get creative with the kid entertainment - their tv's don't allow an Aux in/out connection... Yikes!

We also need to inventory equpment needed for the slide/video shows. We are always in need of a PC-driven projector. Anyone have one available for this year? I think the folks that have helped out in the past have other plans this year...

I'll bring some extra speakers and a laptop. I suspect Squeaky will bring hers.

Yes, I'll have my laptop - and yes, we ARE in need of a projector that can hook into the video output of the laptop (unless I can get the DVD to work but let's consider that after I've got it working).

Squeaky and I have been discussing. It hopefully won't be an issue but I won't know til mid week.

I did pose the question to her as to if she needed audio as well. That will be a separate challenge but is manageable depending on the room size.

If we are looking for a projector that hooks to a PC and shows things like Power Point on a screen. Arlene has one in her conference room in Austin and I have arranged to get it for our use if that will help.

I'm picking up mine this morning but bring it as well. Having a spare is a good thing.

On the audio, I have a PC speaker system that has a Sub as well as surround sound and should give plenty of volume. I'll pack it as well.

Excellent! Thanks! I will bring my speakers as a back-up.

If we are looking for a projector that hooks to a PC and shows things like Power Point on a screen. Arlene has one in her conference room in Austin and I have arranged to get it for our use if that will help.

If you can bring it along to to cover our bets, that would be great. Hmmm, we could have dual simultaneous shows going to finish sooner. How is your multi-tasking? ;-)

I would like to attend. Chuck, I do not have a way to get you $11.00 in time, but I can pay cash if that acceptable. If not, I can bring my own food. Don't need a hotel room, I am less than a mile away.

I will be flying solo.

Bring the cash - you need to have BBQ! :eat:

Thanks to all that are coming & helping with the show...

I'm gonna update the list next. Received payment from NinjaBoy's folks today - thanks!

Please check on your status and make sure I haven't made any mistakes.

From the response, I think I am going to try to order the following pies:
apple
cherry (2)
chocolate delight
coconut (2)
lemon
peach
pecan

That would be 9 plus I will try to bring a Boston Cream.

That was actually what I did for my son's 16th birthday. Set up a projector and he connected his Wii, Xbox and PS3 and had some friends over.

Rock Band, Guitar Hero and Halo3 are pretty awesome on the big screen.

OK, that works, I haven't had a chance to tinker with it. :thumb: We may not not want to run slideshows/videos on the same laptop as Skype, so we may need to discuss dividing the effort over a couple of systems. I'll have a tablet PC there for use...

I'll have my laptop with me as well. We can run the slide show from mine and Skype from Squeak's.

I'll probably pick up a splitter for the monitors sometime this week so we can run 2 screens at once. Could prove interesting. :lol2:

Squeak, is your cam good enough or do you need something else?

I've only dabbled so don't have anything high end for that.

Will also depend on what kind of bandwidth we have.

Well, nothing like OJT to see how it works. :sun:

My camera is built in, it's right above the screen. We've been told there's no wifi in the hotel, just wired internet in the rooms. I will bring a CAT5 cable in case there's a port in the metting room also, but otherwise I have my aircard and that's what we tried it on last night and it jumped/paused once or twice but otherwise it was fine.

I'm sure it will all work out. The slideshow, while fun and entertaining, isn't the main reason we're all going - it's for the company of others. ;-)

It's an internet networking program. You can chat, "call" each other, do web cam calls, etc.

But you're going to BE at the pie run, aren't you? I am setting this up to basically broadcast our party on the web. For people who can't be there in person, they can "call" us on my computer and see the party on my web video camera. Cool, huh? :trust:

That said, one of the Mafia Dons and his Donette haven't paid yet  ) ;-) :lol2:

I'm first to admit I know jack squat about WiFi, but wouldn't it just be a matter of bringing along a wireless router and plugging it in to the hotel's wired LAN?

Mart - which way you going when leaving that early? Thru San Antonio? ;-)

weather report on WFAA this afternoon:

It will be cloudy, breezy and mild tonight with strong to severe thunderstorms breaking out after midnight. A squall line of heavy storms will move in sometime between 3 AM and daybreak bringing heavy rain, hail, and high winds to the DFW area. Then rapid clearing will take place late in the morning with strong west winds and temperatures falling into the 50s. The weather pattern should be quiet and dry for the next several days. Still no signs of arctic air coming into North Texas anytime soon!

I plan to leave around 10:00 with a pretty unimaginative route - probably thru Maypearl and Itasca to Waco. then probably just SH6 unless it is nice and then I may detaour on 46 for a spell...

I need to get there early and check on everything - should be good if everyones' plans are good. I'm shooting for at least a 4:00 PM arrival...
