Is this the same riding area that we rode ISDT qualifiers on in the 70's?
That was some tough fun rough riding !

as I understand it, it's less than 400 acres of the original 217,337 acres...but it's a start.

Anyone been out yet? I read over on TON a few weeks ago that the area was really too small but there was talk of opening more up. This based on interest, so i'm going to get up there in the next week or two.

Saw a write up on the Torch group too. Right now it is tank trails that wind all over and cross each other. Sounds like with time it will get some trails marked out that are bike specific, but one step at a time.

300+/- acres is enough to start, you'd be surprised what a good trail designer could pack into that space... look at Crooked Creek. I have a about a 1.5 mile trail on my parents' 10 acre lot that flows really well, and there's room for more. With some thought it shouldn't be hard to get a nice 20 mile network laid out at Ft Hood.

Crooked Creek is really packed int here but yeah agreed, if used wisely you can work it. So is there an active effort on the trail work right now? $5 has to be worth it if it leads to a better place to ride in the future.
