First Pie Run for 2009 - let's go south!

Definition: Pie Run - TWT's monthly excuse for a ride. Thinly disguised as a "Ride-to-Eat" (RTE), it is a chance for riders from all over the state (and sometimes from other states) to plan routes, organize ride groups, meet with like-minded folk, talk and gawk at all kinds of bikes, eat lunch and have pie for dessert!

Where: Pie in the Sky Company, Conroe,Texas
Pie in the Sky Company
3600 North Loop 336 W.

Map: Pie in the Sky (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=3598+North+Loop+336+W,+Conroe,+Montgomery,+Texas&sll=30.314811,-95.504097&sspn=0.007984,0.010471&g=3599+North+Loop+336+W,+Conroe,+Montgomery,+Texas&ie=UTF8&ll=30.314821,-95.50577&spn=0.007984,0.010471&t=h&z=17)

local help: It's on the corner (if you can call it that) of Loop 336 and FM2854. Coming in from the west off TX105, turn right on to the loop and it's about a mile(?) if that south.

detailed local directions: If you come in from the west on 105 you will go south on the 336 Loop for about a mile. The exit to 2854 will be on your right and as you take that exit you will IMMEDIATELY pull into their parking lot.

For those coming from I-45 N you can exit at the 336 Loop and go westbound. The loop will curve north and you will want to take the 2854 exit. The exit will take you 180 degrees back to 2854, you will go west on 2854 under the 336 loop and then take the 336 loop southbound ramp as if to get back on 336. The pie shop will be on your left side just before you make the jump back onto 336.

For those coming from I-45 S you can exit at the 336 Loop and go westbound. The loop will curve south, you will cross Hwy 105 and then follow the above directions.

For those coming I-45 N or S you can exit at Hwy 105 and go westbound a couple of miles to the 336 Loop and then go south. Follow the above directions.

For those coming in on 105 from the east just stay on 105 through Conroe, past I-45 and then follow the above directions.

I could not get Google Maps to accept "3600 North Loop 336" - it barfed.

Sooo - I need a local to verify that this is where it is - I made my best calculation based on the directions by Jeff (jhansen) and Brian (Texas T).

Good morning, Gilk.
Please list Ninjette and I as Definite Maybe(s). We made it to this one a year or so ago and had a great time.

Txstomper67
01-12-2009, 08:33 AM
Yes, Pie in the Sky is at that location. That is all I know about it though never been there. I do go by there at times.

Maybe this will help

If coming from Houston get off at loop 336 and turn left onto loop 336 and follow to FM 2854 you will have to turn right to get to FM 2854 turn right onto FM 2854 and then you will have to turn back right like you was going to get back onto the loop 336 and Pie in the sky is on your left.

If you are coming from Dallas get off at loop 336 (watch out traffic area) turn right onto Loop 336 follow to FM 2854 and turn right and Pie in the sky will be on your right

If coming from Navasota Hwy 105 east to FM 2854 (there is a traffic light at this intersection)( nicer ride and avoids all the traffic lights that are on Hwy 105) and follow that to Loop 336 and Pie in the sky will be on you left as you are turning to get on the loop
(the ramp is a horse shoe)

Oh if I am in town I will try to make it as well will be my first pie run

Hope this helps

For those coming from the west, take a right at 2854 just east of Montgomery and miss the lights on 105. Turn north on 336 at Conroe.

For those coming from the south, take the first 336 exit (southside) in Conroe and go west watching for the Pie place after the gentle turn to the north and immediately after crossing 2854. It will be on your left.

For those coming from the north, take the first 336 exit (northside) in Conroe and go west watching for the Pie place after crossing 105 west. It will be on your right.

For those coming from the east, turn to the west on 336 and follow it around until reaching 2854. Watch for the Pie place quickly on the left.

Or... look it up on maps.google.com

You either get there yourself or group up with others.
You get there, mingle, eat, mingle some more, drool over bikes, maybe convince someone to let you take a test ride (or is that just me? )
You go home by yourself or with others, or you can go for a ride before you go straight home, etc.

It's all up to you. The only thing set is the place for pie (& lunch)

Just wondering, Chuck, if anyone (you out there, Zim?) knows what our record attendance is for a pie run.

Up until last year (2008), it was about 75-76 and I think that was at Pie in the Sky. We blew that away last year but there was never an "official" count. We ate in shifts in Marble Falls - some folks just ate breakfast and then hung around.

Celina had a great turnout. Ponder has always done well.

But Hico (Koffee Kup) last year took the cake... er pie. :sun:

http://www.texasarlingtoncs.us/pics/mc/pie_runs/hico080628/group_5106q.JPG

Folks came early and left early. Folks cam late and left late. Some didn't quite make it all the way there. The estimate was over 100, probably 110+. The attendance matches the temperature. :sun:

Grrrr. Hafta drop out. Our daughter turns 21 the Monday after the pie run (if she don't see her shadow) and my wife and I are visiting her Fri and Sat, Jan 30 & 31 to celebrate. As is turning 21 is a big deal (wife doesn't read this forum).

And the beemer has new tires, loud horns, and the re-built rear shock is in the mail. Another day, another pie.

Hi James - there is a start of a bit of organization here (http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36029). Normally, this would be how I would go, but the wife wants to go down Friday. So, maybe someone in the DFW group will propose something soon.

Well, I made a tenative route, but nobody said anything (post #144). If anyone wants to go with us...give me a holler so that we can meet. If you want to meet sorta early, we can hit a IHOP and score some breakfast. There is a IHOP in Burleson on the East side of I-35. Going South, exit at Alsbury and make a left (go East) at the light. Cross over I-35 and you can either turn right on the access road or go straight and turn into the Lowes parking lot and cut thru it to IHOP. We will be at the IHOP at 8:00 Am Saturday morning and have breakfast. We should be out of there by no later than 9. If some want to go down I-45...thats fine with us. We are flexable and can do last minute changes. If we go down thru Hillsboro, then we will be returning on I-45, but if we go down on I-45, we will return the back way thru Hillsboro. For those that are close to my house, you are welcome to come by here at 7 for coffee before we head out. 7804 Sugarland Dr...FTW, 76179. I am in Lake Country Estates just off of Boat Club Road. Just let me know that you are going to come by here and I will build some extra coffee.
