View Full Version : DFW area Wal-Mart ATV section?

Okay so before this thread heads down the "I hate Wal-Mart, they kill people, eat babies, and steal from the poor to feed China" road, I'd like to ask a question.
Which Wal-Marts in the DFW area have the elusive ATV section? I need to look at some of the items they sell there but don't know where to turn. I've tried to call and ask a few, but their answers in the past are usually something like, "huh, what's an ATV?"

Like the infamous seat pad? In my WM they are with the outdoor gear near the auto section. Ask for motorcycle helmets next time instead of ATV stuff. They are all together.
Denton.

Why would you even consider buying ATV stuff from those baby-eating murdering thieves.
Gawd I hate them. ;-)

Pep Boys has an ATV section that I'm pretty sure is similar to the product lines that Wally sells. Bell..etc. They even sell O'Neal Boots.

I have called the Walmart in Mckinney, Plano (HWY75), Denton, Garland, Wylie, Waco, Bellmead, Hewitt, for the ATV seat pads.
Anyone know which Walmart these might be found? I live in Allen, would like to have some by next weekend as I might be headed to Red River next weekend.

Did you try Arlington (I20/US287), Cooper Street (old HyperMart), and Ft. Worth Eastchase?

The Walmart in Waxahachie used to carry them. If I make it over there this week I'll look.

I know the Cooper St one does not have them. I frequent them many times (oops, what I mean to say is that I would never shop there even if someone paid me to. Cause after all, Wal-Mart eats babies. Honest, MSNBC said so...).

Saginaw - none
White Settlement Rd - nary any, but helmets and sunglasses w/ padding
Weatherford (FM51) - Everything but the pad. Helmets, glasses, gloves, disc lock and lube.
Cabela's on Hwy170 - Mad Dog Pad for $44.98 (btw, the exact pad as the Walmart pad). $5.00 more for the ultra-special camo.
Duncan, OK - Has the pad for ~$17 but I don't remember anything else.
I'll be going through Azle this afternoon on my way home and make a quick stop in and maybe Lake Worth as well.
As an aside, does anyone use the maxi-padded bicycle shorts? They feel awkward, but work great on a bicycle. Just curious since the DS bikes have a narrow seat.

Yes, I use bicycle shorts. On a narrow MX seat with the Walmart pad I can do 200 mile+ days and still walk in the evening. Still not what I would call comfortable, but definitely a good start.

I have used the padded shorts, but I find that the pad doesn't sit in quite the right spot for a motorcycle seat. I sit pretty upright on my ZRX, and on a road bicycle you're pretty hunched over. The padding is positioned slightly too far forward to do much good in an upright sitting position. Plus, all the padding is right in the middle, right where a bicycle seat would be stuck up your crack. Great for bicycling, but only so-so for motorcycling. You need something with padding that spreads out and back further to cover the bones you sit on (the ischial tuberosities) to give you maximum comfort.
Here's my solution to the problem. Airhawk, baby.

Doesn't the Wal-Mart site ship directly to the store of your choice?

Hey I actually asked the question of an employee the other day. I know that men don't ask directions, but hey.
The elusive answer is...
"Yep we have an ATV section, but...
ONLY during hunting season."
It goes away the rest of the year.
So there you have it. This was in Plano, the consumerist-centristical capitol of the world. Not many hunters in the land of the shoppers?

IMHO, the yuppieland (read Plano) Wal-Marts suck. I like going to the ones out in rural areas. Real motorcycle/ATV sections and real hunting sections (at least to the extent you'd find at Wal-Mart). Also, the Plano ones barely stock any guns or ammo anymore and it seems to shrink a little every 6 months.

Thats because Yuppies drive BMW's... not ATV's, and they don't hunt, they hang out around the shops at legacy and pretend they're special and important

If anyone is going through Granbury headed this way towards Dallas or even Ft Worth, pick me up 2 ATV Pads and I will come get them.
I will call the ones Chuck mentioned in the mean time.

Arlington - not much of Auto section, no.
Cooper St. - nada
Ft. W. Eastchase - could not locate this one.
Bonham Tx. - nada

I have located some about 100 miles away but the drive is easier than going to Granbury. I may buy then all and bring them back with me.

Just to update
Hudson Oaks - Nothing
Lake Worth - a few items but no pad
Azle - nothing
Decatur - the mutha load. They had 5 pads for $16.88 each. Made by Stearns.

Is anyone heading from Decatur back to the Metroplex? Because of the traffic, it still might be quicker for me to go the distance vs through traffic.

I'd buy them all up while you can. By the looks of their site, they aren't going to be under the Sterns name anymore so buy now while you can get them cheap. Heck, I may just make a trip up to Decatur so I can pick up a spare for my WR.

You're always going to find the products most likely to sell in a store according to his demographics. There's always exceptions but if you want rifles, camping gear, hunting "stuff", etc, you typically have to get out of the urban areas. When you're looking for the latest foo foo stuff you head to the Plano, Woodlands, Katy type stores.

I understand selling to your market. I just wish I lived in a different (read: non-foo-foo) market.
