View Full Version : Tx DFW Tire Changes

I have a No-Mar tire changer
and a balancer.
I have changed a few ST-Owners.com members'
tires and am extending this offer to the members
here at TWTEX.com. I live in the Carrollton area.
If you are in the DFW area and need some tires
changed, I should have all the tools necessary for
you to either show up and we'll take the wheels
off in my garage or you can just bring your
tires/wheels by and watch me loose a finger.. LOL
If you are on a trip you are more than welcome
to have a tire shipped to me and I'll do my best
to be home when you need the tires changed out
so you can continue your trip.
I would like to ask maybe $5 or $10 per tire
change to help buy weights and pay for the
equipment.
Just PM me if you need a tire changed and we'll
work out a schedule. The weekend will always work
out best for me unless you are close by.
Hope this is a service that members here find
useful.

I have an atv/mc lift so I'm sure we can figure something out. I'm doing a change this coming sunday for djw so if that works out for you let me know and we'll get yours done too.

Joe,
I have a BMW r1150r, would there be any issues with changing a tire?

There shouldn't be any issues with changing it. However, I don't know if my balancer will work on your wheel... I know it works on wheels like those on the ST where there's a small hole on each side... If yours is a single-sided swingarm we might have to figure out something for that.

I think it is a single- sided swingarm:confused:I'm not in any hurry but it would be cool to have someone local other than the dealer.
Thanks,

Check No-Mar's website... they offer an adapter that works quite well. A tad pricey but good to have in your arsenal.:trust:

Thanks,
I checked advrider and based on this thread it looks like my balancer should work just fine.

Yeah, I saw that, and harbor freight actually has one a little cheaper that might work for some SS swingarm wheels..

If you do, keep the rcpt and if it doesn't work you can return it. I think your wheels are the same as on a GS and if so I'll see if I can make some calls to see if what I have will work. Won't be 'til after sunday.

I spoke to a friend who has an RT and Gs. He had to buy an adapter.
Harbor Freight has one for a good price.

Wish I had seen this a couple months ago. I'm new to bikes and paid 60 bucks for the local shop to swap them. They're out of business now ... for some reason...
I just did the same not too long ago with the rear tire...I might hit you up later for the front!

Just let me know ahead of time and we'll get them done. If you need to ship your tires to me to hold for you just PM me and we'll get that arranged as well.

Sure, why not. I'm open Saturday afternoon. I'm heading to the Coppel Police MC Competition (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60371) then lunch at Hard 8 and I think I'll have an ST tire to do so I'll PM you my number or you can check out the competion/lunch.

I got my tire in, I've got a ZRX with the 4-to-1 header so the motorcycle jacks won't work I don't think. I work in Farmer's branch, so not too far from ya. I'm going to a ZRX rally next weekend so i'd like to get it done sometime early in the week if possible

Sorry guy, I'm swamped at work and heading out of town myself. If you could make it over today I could get to it but during THIS coming week is not gonna happen. The weekends are always much better for me.
I also don't have a way to jack your bike up. Maybe you can just bring the wheel by today?
If you have a trip coming up that soon then I'd suggest your normal dealer/shop as they're going to be more convenient for you than I will on this one... again, sorry.

Joe,
I buttoned up the 12 yesterday, and just got back from scrubbin' in the Roadsmarts.
They feel great, and the balance seems to be spot on, at least up to 90... :o
It was my pleasure to meet you, and thanks again for your service.
G/L on your trip, if you go.

No problem Craig.. hey, you mentioned it was tough finding tires but it looks like that tire and the ST1300 tire are the same size.. the fronts anyway.

Hi Mellow....I'm expecting my order for two new Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires to arrive this afternoon. I would like to arrange to bring by the rear for a swap out sometime this week or on the weekend if that is better timing for you. I'm am only going to need to do the rear this week and then maybe do the front in a couple of weeks from now. The rear tire size is 160/60ZR-17 for a Ducati Multistrada MTS-620 rear wheel...Does this sound possible for you this week?
I live in Grapevine and work in Coppell so I could drop off right after work one evening.
This is a great service you offer to our TWT community. Thanks!

Micadee

Are you bringing the bike over or just the wheel and tire?
I don't require any $$ but, $5 per wheel is enough for me to help offset the cost of the changer equipment. Plus, we get to talk bikes.

I did watch the video. I would have preferred more on the riding and less on the people.. .not that it wasn't very interesting but I was just wanting more on the riding. I have a feeling the 2nd video will show more on that. Either way it was done quite nicely.

I am having FREE screening of "Riding Solo to the top of the world" and "One Crazy Ride" at Richardson theaters on halloween weekend mornings 11am. These are 90mins movies. Joe mentioned about the DVD of Riding solo that I gave him to watch. You can get more info at http://dirttrackproductions.com/usa-screenings.html.
By the way "One Crazy Ride" got the Jury award at the Flagstaff Film festival this saturday. That makes both the movies award winning.

Hi Joe
Did not see you at the movies, what kept you away, but thanks for sending over the couple from Fort worth (do not remember their names and TW signature too, old age catching up) and sharing with them Riding solo. It was a pleasure meeting them and sharing biking experiences.
By the way I have a copy of the OCR with me for you, in case you did not get a chance to see it. Let me know when can I hand it over to you. OR maybe have a bunch of bikers together and watch it over couple of beers. What do you say.
I have few folks who missed the movies and would want to watch OCR. I have a 52" plasma unless someone else has a better idea, big screen let us do it.
Thanks
Avi
