In the spirit of M38A1's thread here, I would like to use this thread to capture training and competency related resources available out there.

I came across this tonight and thought it worthy to share.

ShortCourses.com
The On-line Library of Digital Photography

And on this site one of their many courses and other resource material is this:

Click the picture to view it.

Photocourse.com
From the looks of the web page layout, this site appears to be related to ShortCourses.com This site also appears to be geared towards teaching basic digital photography concepts.

What else is out there? I need all the help I can get.;-)

Digital Grin: A very active Photography forum.

Found on this site, aside from all the various threads, Tutorials!

The Field (TM)

aka take the camera out and use it. Experiment with features, programs, controls, light, depth of field, etc. Most modern processing and/or archive software show info on settings, etc. Or take a notebook and write notes.

My first digital camera expedition was the Fort Worth Zoo. I learned more about using the camera and photography that day than any other resource (for digital cameras). My next field day will be a botanical garden to practice macro/micro shots. Last Man Standing was practicing sport/action shots. The Gage hotel in Marathon was practicing light contrast. My Back Five (acres) gives me tons of practice (especially moon, birds and sunset/storm shots).

I really need to practice photographing people. I can't seem to get the handle on that. ;-)

:tab Of the ride reports that I really like, it is usually the ones with the really good people shots that hold my attention. Scenery and action shots are fun, but there is just something about really good people shots. They seem to draw me into the world of the person(s) and capture the mood of the moment. Skiphunt has done some really good ones from his Mexico trips.

He surely does.
I admit I'm not much of a people person. I guess it shows in my photography.

Photographing people is like trophy hunting; You've got to capture the decisive moment, while being invisible to the subject. A photographer need to be close for an image that has impact and intimacy. And finally, you take pictures with your head. The camera is just a tool to help you capture an image.

STScott posted the below in this thread :link:, thought I would capture the links in this one for archiving.
