I am flattered to have been chosen in Round 1, thanks everyone. Lets move on to Round 2.
Use this thread for posting shots previously taken, or current shots asking questions, or just talking about the assignment. We'll open up a different post a few days before the contest assignment ends for you to post your actual submission entry. Your submission entry can be something new or one you posted here, but the picture HAS to be taken between now and Monday April 6th midnight. A winner will be chosen sometime after midnight Monday and announced at that time. The winner will then post the next two week assignment topic and so forth.
The challenge this round is, Reflection. This can mean the obvious and those not so obvious things to each of us. The challenge is to create a photo that makes us think, but it should be able to be understood and fitting to the theme of the challenge. Show us your best Photograph that illustrates Reflection
Here are a couple of mine to lend as an example.

From my trip to NM / CO last year therefor I won't be submitting this on for record. I got real lucky with the PNS on this shot...
I like how the road in front shows movement, the road in the mirror is out of focus & only the trim ring on the mirror & is showing in focus.

Hey all.....
GREAT shots coming in for this assignment. Duke's going to have his hands full if the assignment entries are any 'reflection' of what's showcased here.
Also, you don't have to say it was taken before this assignment or ineligible or any variation. If your pic is in the new topic/discussion thread (ie this one), it's assumed it's an old shot or new shot. It really doesn't matter as there will always be a submission only thread opened up a few days before assignment closure.
Keep 'em coming. This is going to be a good one!

Me thinks when one does water reflections, there can be zero wind on most of the reflection type shots. Granted, some are highlighted by a slight ripple for affect. The first one has ripple that pulls away from the subject matter of the trees. I'd also ask myself do the trees stand on their own as a good shot by themselves. The beach one is moving in the right direction IMO.
I'm no expert so that and a buck-fiddy will get you a coffee..... ;-)

Reflections and shadows are my favorite subjects, especially the latter. They are very similar, except shadows are more monochrome and challenging. Regardless, two from my list of favorites:

http://texasshadow.smugmug.com/photos/505077526_2VDBz-M.jpg
My ultimate favorite which I've used in two publications:
http://texasshadow.smugmug.com/photos/485860374_YGBks-M.jpg
These are older photos. I can't participate in the 'contest' because I can't shoot anything worthwhile. My camera is dying. Going camera 'window' shopping today (daydreaming until I get $$$ for a new one).
I'll play. Took this photo this afternoon. I looked down and thought of this thread.

Let's see; examine the indicator lights. I was speeding a little, 6 over indicated. I was in the right of 3 lanes on I 35 and getting passed like I was going 10 under. Green light on the speedo indicates 6th gear. :thumb: Yellow shows low fuel situation even though it only took 5 gallons to fill her up; she holds 6. Red on the tach shows cruise was not engaged but active. Like I said the top of the tank is clean. the front is covered with bugs and the rear bags and rear fender are pretty dusty right now. Next time I have a full day off next week I'll give a bath. :lol2:

Well I'm having a hard time deciding which photo should I submit. However that can only mean that I had a lot of fun with this challenge, especially since the circumstances allowed me to be in a place ripe for photo ops and the challenge provided some direction as what type of subjects to pursue. One that I ruled out for being too grainy is here:

So here's the other photo I considered submitting for the contest. I like it because its a little bit more "artsy" than the one I took of the Eiffel tower, which while it took a bit work, it's still only a little step above a regular snapshot.
This one I like to call "Notre Dame after the rain". The Cathedral reflected over the puddles in the cobblestones. While in comparisson it involved less effort than the Eiffel tower, the point was to notice the puddles and think about looking for a vantage point were the reflection of the cathedral would show on the water, in other words, seeing a good photo op. Unfortunately the sun didn't cooperate--it was in the right location, in front of the church, but clouds were covering it, making it hard to notice the details on the reflection. By the time the sun came out of the clouds it was already behind the skyline shadowing the cathedral. It was also impossible to go for a nice centered shot of the facade as there were literally hundreds of tourists in the area.
Oops, didn't mean to get so carried away. Here's the photo:
