Any particular type of "vehicle"? Technically this counts.
Very dark out. On a ship that is moving in the water, taking a picture of another ship that is moving around with the swells. A very long open shutter. You can tell how long the shutter was open by how over exposed the lights are. I had to take about 12 pictures before I got one.

This is my wife's Golf TDI. This image was made almost entirely in camera. Post production includes cloning out the camera rig, and bumping up the saturation of the colors.

Love the ride! Especially the red interior. I've been considering one of those for my wife for a year or so. The used prices seem to have dropped significantly in the last year. I take it you bought new???

I had been looking at C5 Corvettes and saw one around the same price in Houston and that is when I started considering one.

This isn't my best-ever vehicle pic, but I'm posting it anyway since it's the most exotic car I've ever been assigned to photograph. Behold the mighty Bugatti Veyron. I would strongly encourage anyone who has an extra two million dollars laying around to buy one immediately. Then take me for a ride:

Great shot of a great car. Oddly, it makes it look like a toy car to me, but I fully realize it is not. How did you get the rear spoiler to deploy while still? I thought that only happened above 80 mph....

Great shot of a great car.
Many thanks. :thumb:
Oddly, it makes it look like a toy car to me, but I fully realize it is not.
Actually, you'd be surprised by just how compact and low the car is. I actually struggled with the best way to make it look "bigger" without using a really wide lens and distorting it. It's a purpose-built race car to be sure. Sitting in it is like sitting in a little kid's pedal car. It's cramped and built for function, not comfort.
How did you get the rear spoiler to deploy while still? I thought that only happened above 80 mph....
There's a control in the cockpit for deploying it manually. :thumb:

No doubt, Jasen, Barber is a tough place to get good shots. I would have KILLED to get an angle like that at Barber, but the only place that you could get a shot like that without a photog pass required a Honda club pass. *******s.
Even though a quicker shutter speed would have made Spies crisper, I do like this shot from Barber as well:

I have a very similar shot of David Hobbs in a IMSA BMW 320i. I took it at Daytona during the last race of the season in 1977. I don't know how they number the turns there, but it was at the last infield turn before the one that goes back onto the oval. It's a little wider shot that includes the whole car, but the effect is quite similar. It's a great shot.
It was shot on Fujichrome 100 using a Nikon F2 with a Nikkor 80-200 zoom. I really need to get it into digital format. It was a lucky shot and by far the best frame out of the ten rolls I shot at that race.

Wow, I don't know where to start... here are a few of my most recent personal fav's:
The first two are awesome! I like the oranges and contrast in the first but the second one just has this sort of dark mood to it.

Did anybody else notice the SR-71 on the carrier?

Yes. I couldn't decide if that was a static display or an active ship. Cool either way. :sun:

That's what caught my attention about it - (besides being a pretty cool plane). It has to be static at least for the display as shown - given that the SR-71 couldn't land "conventionally" on the carrier.;-)
I was looking for some indication I could clearly make out of which ship it is, but I got nothin.

Rad's location also has "NY Harbor", so my guess it is the USS Intrepid, CV11, an Essex class carrier from WWII...
The Intrepid is now a museum up that-a-ways... :zen:

As usual Chuck, you're right! Clearly on the deck but in a different place than the pic.

Interesting that they retrofitted it into an angle-deck carrier - all the WWII flat tops were straight deck. You can thank the Brits for the angle deck (and the steam catapault). ;-)
Reminder of the days when wheels were optional.....

One from my latest shoot, not necessarily the best of the bunch, just the 1st shot of the session and the only one I've had time to process thus far... I still have around 30 to do
This is actually the same photo, just processed 2 different ways...
