This is what my brother and I have been up to lately, I’m sure he will chime in ever now and than.

Several months of work, unable to post the site for opinions while it was opened and closed as needed for maintenance, last week we lost a lot of the site, my brother had to frantically rebuild. Tons left to be done as the process moves forward.

Changed the logo a few times, this one looks pretty cool with a glowing effect. Climax Riding Gear is the name.

What doya think, give me your opinion?

What products to add?

As far as suggestions, a tire changing and balancing service is always appreciated.

Best of luck.

Thanks Larry, if we can get some replies my brother has pushed me to do a give-away of something from a drawing of all the people who post.

Looking for opinions, what can be done to improve the site, products to carry, etc.

Any suggestions we will discuss and act accordingly, questions are good also.

Looks cool. Is there going to be a B&M store, or online only?

As for suggestions:

logo looks good, but I think I would like it better with the "Cli" in the same font as the "MA" with the "X" line going all the way across.

I know good domain names are hard to come by, but dashes in FQDN's prove to be a significant negative in user friendliness for online businesses.

Best of luck to you and I look forward to trying you out.

Thanks Matt,

We are headquartered out of Waco but pushing online more than at some point possibly have a more visible B&M store.

We will have to play with the logo, and try out your suggestion if my brother hasn't already or take another look, he designed and changed that a few times so hey, a few more wouldn't hurt. :-P:-P He might even try it out and post on here for comments.

Gary, that was a concern of mine also, as far as finding, supposedly we have the CLIMAXRIDINGGEAR.com also and should forward to the web page, we will have to wait and see.

Also we hopefully backed up the webpage by saving the code on notepad incase we mess the page code up we can go back and paste the original to be back where we started.

What is the FQ Domain Names?

Nice looking site so far. I actually have a question. I see you guys are carrying the Scala Rider Intercom setups. I currently have a scala set up but am interested in if you can purchase additional bases.. the part the mounts to the helmet. so that I could just transfer the transponding unit itself from helmet to helmet.. see as you prolly guessed now I have more then 1 helmet. Thanks

Hey Josh,

Good question, I will find out and get back to you. I have a Scala Teamset myself, that would be a good idea.

I found this but will need to clarify if what you are asking is available.

We could put Bill (DFW Warrior) to work actually getting paid for what he does for beer money! :lol2: As many tires as he does, he'd be a rich man!

Hmmmm.....:ponder: Maybe, just maybe.......

On a serious note, for suggestions... I'd start looking into some cooling vests for the upcoming summer months. I know that those types of threads always pop up on the first day of upper 90's around here.

Also, maybe you could strike a deal with BeadRider and sell beaded seats as well. I don't know the logistics in it, but some (like me) swear by them for keeping your junk cool in the summer months.

Josh, the item I posted above is what you need. This has the long boom w/MP3 connections. It's on our web site as of now if you need any.

Scala use to have an option when purchasing the Q2, a short or a long boom, now they exclusively ship the long boom. Measured from the clamp, not including but to the mic, short about 5", long apprx. 7".

Also, we wanted to have a customer friendly "Return Policy" so if you guys could take a look and see what you think.

Thanks for noticing, we did want a clean looking site. You might think you can go into business and you get dealers cost and roll, not that easy, the dist. are in business to make monies also so you have to do a bit of horse trading to secure better deals for your customers, that's where I come in, the dirty work guy. :trust: ;-) Someone has to sweep the floors and take out the trash. Glad you brought this up, these were difficult to locate a manufacture to produce as the curve of the lens is the issue, easy if you want more of a flat lens or if you pay big bucks for a script for glasses. This was a feather in our hat to locate, and the manufacture is the same that produces Ray Ban IIRC.

The issue was people who could not read their gauges, watch, GPS, etc, had to stop and switch glasses. This enables the wearer to have a standard pair of sunglasses with bifocals.

Because you are reading from a distance you need a lower power than what you would need for reading a book up close. We have a dealer who is selling these, sold out and rebought, at the moment we are only selling through the website verses locating other retail dealers. Reorders are 8 weeks out and inventory we are saving for online customers.

Great product that fits a need well. That is not out of the question either to design a product if enough would move.

I need to do my taxes, thanks for the reminder. :eek2:

Nice looking site. Looks like you're off to a great start.

One of the things I like about sites such as New 3nough is their personal description of products along with the manufacturer's blurb of the features. Since ya'll are riders, getting a rider's perspective of the products is very valuable info, especially for a mail-order business. I realize you can't get to every product immediately, but start with the ones ya'll have already been using or tried.

Thanks Donnie, so you met Tom huh, and you Still posted! LOL

The glasses are going well, we are running on the low side with more people wanting them, soon an order will have to be placed for more. We are delaying it as it's a large 1200 plus order to get these. Lag time is about 2 months out, lower power is outselling the higher power. I guess we need more with less vision to balance this out. :lol2:

The disc alarm is a great seller also, neat idea when these came out. Of course most of this is like candy to me, I never tire of it.

Very good insight. We want to do that (personal description), and have reviews from users, we have not yet figured this out on the later comment.

Yes, the Waco meet and greet went well. It was fun to see everyone again. I have to start making this things more regularly. Two brave souls came on bikes, the rest of us showed-up in cars. A couple of the group were rubbing it in about their upcoming Big Bend trip making me a little jealous! :-( Oh, well. Today, my dad invited me to the Hill Country this weekend so guess I will go with him. :rider:

Hoping my son gets well enough soon so he can go on another trip. A bike trip with your son is really something special. However, for this year, I think he will have used up all his time-off after his next surgery. It appears he will have his bag removed in Mid-May and his plumbing re-connected if all goes well. He seems to be healing very well this time! Thanks everyone. :sun:

Don't remember their names from the last M&G, but I really wanted to asked the two Wing riders that were at the Moody M&G about fitment. Fitment of their intercom mics to their Shoei Multitecs. My Multitec fits SOOO close to my chin, I barely have enough room for my beard!

Hey... Special note:

Any chance you would do price matching of internet competitors?

I'd be more interested in giving a Texas company my business especially a twt supporter/member.

Several places have the Scala Q2 Multiset for right at $250 with free shipping. Of course these are tax free since they are outside Texas. We are going to buy the multiset before our Memorial Day weekend trip to the Hill Country.

If you'ld be willing to meet the $249 with free shipping to Houston I will twist my other 1/2's arm to buy it from you folks.

If you are going to price match you might want to advertise this as well.

Good luck with the business. I am jealous of you guys taking the steps to do it.

I have wondered about that also. On sites where the option was given, I always opted out. On the other hand, where sites gave you no choice, it did not bother me. It is just that we wanted email addresses in order to shoot a variety of specials targeting our past clients... you know.. specials especially for them?

Please, can we get more comment on this subject? This is an important subject to me. Would really like to hear more feedback buying as a registered customer, or as a guest?

I like the idea of email specials for regular customers. New Enough does this and I have bought a few items from them because I received an email about an item I didn't even know I needed. I also get these kinds of emails from a couple of other places I enjoy doing business with. The thing is that with each of these I excersized an option to give them my email address for this express purpose. There I other places that just send me specials and I don't really want them in my inbox so I "opt out" of hearing from them. Sometimes this irritates me enough that I do not purchase from them anymore. Not always, but sometimes.
As far as having to register in order to buy from a particular website: depends... In the past, I have navigated away from these sites when I could find the same item at the same price elsewhere. Sometimes, I just register and buy the item anyway. I guess it just depends on my mood and whether or not I feel some kind of trust in who I'm buying from...
Although, I guess I'm not often too freaked out about it, after all, I am buying things on the internet!

I have looked at some of the ideas on products to add, trying to get to those first. I have talked with a few vendors in attempts to work out a way to carry there product, we will see what happens.

We have looked at tires, we are not there yet. Unable to determine what is going on exactly as pricing is an issue from what we are seeing. I won!

I Won!!

Happy Dance!

Thanks Very Much to Terry / Cli-Max!

On a side note, another suggestion or two on appearance:
1. The Home/Contact/About us/etc links at the top. I like them better spaced out a bit more, and generally I look in the upper right corner, and also at the bottom of the page for a contact link.

2. Also, a quick Security link taking people to the FAQ page, and also include a blurb about secure order entry page, etc.

3. Lastly, the product pages look a little bland, with the white background and no visible dividers. Consider a border/box around each product and leave the back ground white, or even a light grey box each product is in (similar to the color at the top of the page behind the logo) would help section off the items and clean up the page

Just wanted to give Kudos to Terry for being a very easy vendor to work with. :thumb:

I do not often brag on on-line vendors, have had some bad experiences with folks (won't name names, but one of them is a retailer out of Utah).:biggun:

Just purchased a Scala Q2 Multiset from him. He made it very easy to get the item I wanted at the right price in Texas from a TWT member.

Thanks Terry! You'll get more business from me in the future.

It's late Darrell or I would write more....thanks for the kind words.

I stayed with your package since we were pushing the clock at 5:20, told the lady I need this on that truck out front leaving. She said no problem, I said than scan it, now I asked whose truck is out front, this guy raised his hand, I took the package gave it to him and told him it leaves today with you, where's your cart.

I would look for this to arrive on Tuesday as in the next day, for sure, no later than Wed. unless FedEx hiccups.

Thanks for your business!!!!

Arrived perfectly in tact, no FedEx gremlins. THanks for staying late to make sure it went out.

Like I said I don't write very many nice things about motorcycle farkle folks. Too many more worried about charging the card first and then shipping later. Or underpacking and things arrived destroyed.

Keep up the great work. I can't wait to get a job and be able to afford to buy lots from you vs 1 item at a time.

We can't advertise our VholdR sales prices, but they were much cheaper than the last post.

However, if you come into our On-line Store.... you can see what special pricing is available. Here's how!

Add the VholdR Camera to your Shopping Basket & Use this Special Discount Promotion Code for Great Savings - Code: vholdrhd
At the bottom of the Check Out screen, after you put in your name and address, simply type in vholdr in the field labeled Promotion Code! Continue through the screens until you see the price. You will not be disappointed with your discounted price! Lastly, not to worry - you will NOT be committing to an order and NOTHING is saved until you hit "Confirm" so it is safe to look!

Also, the Gorilla is currently priced at $136.50. Even lower than last post. Great Time to Save!

Vaughn,

At the bottom of the Check Out screen, after you put in your name and address, simply type in the word vholdr in the field labeled Promotion Code! Continue through the screens until you see the price.

Your Credit Card Info does not register in the card processor's server UNTIL you click CONFIRM. Not to worry - you will NOT be committing to an order and the card processor will not receive any information until you "Confirm" so it is safe to look! Under any/all circumstances, credit card is purged, and never stored by or in our store.

VholdR as well as several manufacturers that have MAP programs DICTATE you can not sell at discounted prices for any reason, that is - until they are firmly in your store and ready to checkout - sort of like "at the cash register" but before money exchanges hands. Sorry for the trouble, but it is not our doing. This is really the only way around it - but it is a safe look.
