Hi all, lets See... I ride a 01 TL1000R, am a Rural Mail Carrier, am 34 years old, three kids ( girls ) and I have a little over a year of experience with Motorcycles, the TLR being my first bike, and it has been a fun learning experience accident free thankfully.
Special thanks to Tourmeister for getting me in here, I was under AOL arrest
That's about all I got for now :)

:tab Yegads!! You started on the TLR!!?? You must be a serious man of restraint if you have remained accident free on that bike :-P I have always been told it is the ultimate squid bike because it is so easy to wheelie :eek

:tab Have you had a chance to get over West of Lampasas and run the road that sorta follows the Colorado River up towards San Saba? We rode that back in May and it is a real hoot! Lots of great curves and good elevation changes.

:tab Welcome to the site, glad you finally got in! Please keep me informed if you have any other troubles.

  1st bike a TLR, WOW!!! You must have much better control of your right wrist than I. I probably would have plastered myself on some tree, pole or back of a car somewhere. That bike is very cool. Like an SVS on many, many steroids.

Welcome to the cult, uh I mean group. I think you will find that the rest of us inmates, uh members, are just a little wacko, uh I mean in love with riding too. :chug:

Welcome, MotoTiller.

Hmmm, how DO you resist the urge to whack it open on your v-twin??? I've had my 'priller for a little over a year now (my 2nd bike since starting with this addiction 9/01), and it's getting increasingly difficult not to give in to my bike's constant urging to go faster, Faster, FASTER! :)

Who said I controlled myself :) na, actually it wasn't really that bad.
I took the MSF course in Hutto and hopped right on the Tiller. There were a few times that the power caught me offguard, like the first time that I found there was more than half throttle ( thank god for the rear seat cowl hump ) and the unexpected wheelies but other than that it has been real fun.
I have run that route by San Saba, it's a blast.
I've learned how to get rid of the ckicken strips by running through Oakalla and PR4, but I am still new to this stuff (7400 miles) and have much to learn.
I look forward to riding with all of you in the future.

Good to have you here!

What a great area to learn the ropes in - FM 1113 just out of town up to 580, then those good roads to the south towards Oakalla and Watson and Florence...as you might tell, you're located near one of my prime weekend riding locales. 8)

Cool bike you've got there too - the TLR is very under-rated, IMHO. But starting out on one?!
I had (and still have) some reservations about treating the throttle too carelessly on my relatively mild-mannered Sprint when it was new, and it was my fourth bike. I tip my hat to you on your success at keeping it properly sorted!

Dang man, 'round here we call tillers the "widow maker"! I was afraid I was getting in over my head with the VFR as a 1st ride!!!! :-)

Welcome to the site. I'm at about the same experience level as you with 15 months and 10K miles on my VFR. What a blast I'm having, wish I hadn't waited till I was 35 to finally buy a bike.

Welcome!

Howdy Tiller,

:tab Haven't heard from you in a while and was just curious if you have been racking up the miles on the TLR? The weather has been so nice lately I've found myself thinking about that ride over by San Saba along the river. It has been so cool and damp here in the mornings that riding can be a little brisk  So I fantasize about riding where the humidity is MUCH lower hehe. Right now is prime Hill Country riding season. I sure hope you get time to get out and stretch the TLR's legs!

Hey Scott, it's been a while. I had a crash in September and messed up my shoulder and knee. All is well now and I just got the bike kind of back together and went for my first ride last Sunday. My friends nominated me for the TSBA Killeen Chapter President, I think to get me motivated to get back on the road again, well it worked :)
We are doing the San Saba run tomorrow.
I'll get up to speed with posting here soon.
Ed

:tab Doh! Sorry to hear that! Glad you are doing better though. Hopefully the injuries are not of the permanent variety. Congrats on the election!

Yo MotoTiller!

Another TSBA'er over here, cool.

You took Jon's course in Hutto? That's right down the street from me, well, relatively speaking anyway. The joke on Austin TSBA rides is that I go through a tank of gas on the UberHawk just to get to the meeting point.

Only half true

For work I'm in Killeen a lot, though it's on four wheels. Glad to see you're back up and running.
