Well...was planning a trip to Lake of the Ozarks for a while and last week decided I would extend the trip to 2 weeks and keep going to Michigan (Lansing area) to see the parents and make a ride to the Upper Peninsula with my dad.
I'm doing this on a V* 1100 and the bike is in good shape, have made some longer rides so comfortable going longer distances. To keep it simple, plan to stay in hotels along the way with a several day stop in the middle in Missori.
Anyone have any good routes up to Missouri and up to Michigan? Good links about motorcycle touring?
Wish me luck! :trust:
I will be posting a ride report when I get back.
yes, you are crazy, in a good way

I've been making a detailed plan for my trip to Dallas, up through the Ozarks to KY then Michigan and then west to South Dakota and other places. My generalized maps are at http://www.impakt.net/~edscott/trip/
I still have the specific map url's if you like any of my choices, so just PM me and I'll give them to you. My plan is to stay off of the interstates and away from big cities, so that may not be what you want. I also have cheap motel and camping info at each of my stopovers.

I went ahead and moved the mapquest links and the details (text files) into that same folder for you. It's far from complete but maybe will help at least a little.

I think taking the bike across mac bridge would be great as long as the wind is down, I love that bridge but when the wind is up even in a car it feels a litttle hairy.
I would make my route to include the boston mountain range in southern ok as well.

Last year we went to branson after going through southern ok which leads into the ozarks would be a very round about trip but should make for a great ride.

I haven't been on 62 across Arkansas but I can tell you that if you take Route 5 north from Mountain Home to Gainesville and then take 160 East across Missouri there is some really nice riding on 160 - just gas up every chance you get, there can be some good milage between stations on that route. Then you can hook back up to your original plan in Paducah.

two wheels on the road. man that is life.
Just do your self a favor. find a way where you on 2 lane over 4 lane for most the trip.
Yes it will take longs but a bike is about the ride, and you will see a lot more and have a blast, Little dinners, folks are friendly.
Last year i was head to NW CO. and got snow in passes so went to southern AZ , ride to ride not to get to a place.
