Well actually it is a BBG1500. This Sunday I will be leaving the house early to ride through TX, OK, KS, CO and NM. The entire route will be 1555 miles. If you want to ride along with me (virtually) just click on my SPOT page Sunday morning:

Here is the final numbers of my Bun Burner Gold 1500:
GPS: 1536.4 miles
MC odometer: 1575.6 miles
GPS time: 23 hours 40 minutes, moving time 22 hours 22 minutes,
Stopped time (rest, refueling) 1 hour 18 minutes
Gas Receipts: 23 hours 36 minutes

My favorite parts of the ride where:
Riding through the Canadian River Valley north of Pampa in the wee hours of the morning. The rolling hills of the plains with a low mist are right nice scenery for this Texan.
Riding on I-25 and US 285 with the Rocky Mountains on my right. Even though rain clouds had them covered at times. When the clouds moved, I could see snow on a few of the peaks. It was hard not to break off my course and head toward them. Which is a good thing I didn’t, while the lower elevations got rain I bet up in the passes it snowed.
Watching the sun go down behind the Guadalupe mountains as I traveled down US 180 and TX Hwy 54. The sun rays filtering through the clouds was astounding.
Watching the thunderstorms unleash their lighting in the clouds and earth while heading east toward Colorado City on I-20.

My least favorite parts:
I rode off and on in the rain from just south of Pueblo, CO to Vaughn, NM.
There were few times the rain was heavy, especially while I was refueling in Vaughn, NM
The interstates, yeah they’re efficient, but I-25 is wore out.

Now I’m ready for my big ride to Utah!

That if you choose to use interstates for your route you can complete the BBG in about 20 hours or so. If you include lesser highways going through small towns like me, your time will be tighter for each stop. If you find your ahead of schedule, use that time for a longer stop somewhere at the end when you start to feel the beginnings of fatigue, to get off the bike for a few minutes of down time or to even get in a power nap if you can.

I bet he'll go as long as you take a few quarts of oil and oil-dry for him. That old harley of his has issues.
