I've managed to get this far without signing up for a photo hosting site, but am considering getting an account at one for posting pictures at websites that don't host, and possibly albums for others in the future. Facebook is useful enough, but I have privacy concerns with sharing them there. I've looked at the reviews of sites out there, but they're a dizzying array of suggestions. It seems that the big ones are Photobucket, Flickr and Picasa.
I thought I throw out the question here. Which photo sharing site do you suggest and why?

SmugMug (http://www.smugmug.com/photos/best-photo-sharing/)
It's worth every penny. Easy to work with, lots of cool features. It's worth actually spending the money on it, IMHO.
NO ADS!
my albums hosted there: photos.leavelles.net

I use dropbox. No albums, but I can drag up to 2gb of pictures into my public folder and share them anywhere, no ads no fees nothing. Bonus, it works for any type of file (music/PDF/Office/you name it), not just photos.

Skydrive (http://skydrive.live.com/)
25GB of free space, not limited to photos only, can limit who can see what if you want to and it has very cool Photo Album functionality.

I have a flikr, photobucket and smugmug. And while the smugmug is the only one I pay to use, its my favorite.
Photobucket is always soooo slooow, and all those adds get on my nerves. I never found flikr all that user friendly

I pay 20-odd bucks per year for a PhotoBucket Pro account, and I really like it. The video engine looks good and the slideshow maker is easy to use and fast-loading.

+1 for Photobucket.com
I've use the free account for years now with no complaints. They don't even bug me with "sign up now" emails.

Smugmug. I have used Photobucket but being able to download full size photos to Smugmug is worth it for me. I like the layout and interface on Smug better as well.

I use imageevent.com. I have an unlimited storage capacity and I can password, hide and share. I can do video, pics, documents, spreadsheets. I have enjoyed it for years now.

Revival
My daughter's getting married this week and I was considering opening an online photo album that everyone who takes pictures at the wedding can access and load pictures to.
Any last minute suggestions??

smugmug, still. The other part of that is the site itself is clean with not a lot of peripheral junk when viewing pics.

Yeah, I was in a last-minute panic trying to see how we're going to get all the pictures gathered. I created a gmail account for everyone to send pics to and I'll most likely create a smugmug account and upload them there for public viewing. :thumb:

Hi,
I suggest that you try BlueMelon (http://www.bluemelon.com)
... you either get 1 GB free and great features or you get unlimited storage for $ 25 a year
To answer why : it looks simple and yet it gives you good features and customization - I like their service. Try it yourself for free and see if you like it ... that is better than any description I could give ;)
