My father was involved in a major accident April 18, 2007. A dump truck ran a light and hit him from the side. He passed away yesterday after two years working on recovery. It was a surprise to all of us. He had some touch and go moments when he could've slipped away at any time, but this wasn't one of them. My mother was working on plans for home improvements to make the house wheelchair friendly.

He is being cremated, and I am going to take him on a 'last ride'. I want to take him on the trinity, and spread some of his ashes on Willow City Loop.
I know I'm not a major fixture on this forum, and probably none of you knew him. (though maybe a few) But anyone who would like to join the last ride are welcome. Post here or PM me and I'll let you know. I'm hoping for this weekend, but it may take more time. I want to get hold of the people who taught MSF classes with him.

Something I think was quite fitting...while he was lucid and speaking at times in the hospital, I consider the last thing he said before the accident to be wonderful last words:
"It's a beautiful day for a ride."

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Yes, it is good to go doing something you like to do. I don't want to die at my desk. I hope you find some people to ride with you.

I knew your dad and was at his memorial service at Trinity Pres. He was one of the instructors at the safety course I attended and I had the pleasure to ride with him. I remember specifically of him bragging about his children. I know he fought hard for 2 years and I am deeply saddened by his passing. It would be an honor to ride with you on his earthy "last ride". I know it won't really be his last ride. Plesse keep me in the loop. Peace be with you and your family.
