I have some relatives coming to town that weekend in DFW. Heather will probably hang with them, and I will head that way for the Pie Run,then meet back up with her.
This coming weekend is ROT, so after that I should be able to make more plans.

If you have a group to ride with or post up here that you're looking to ride along with others, then just get it sorted out and you're on a group ride. If you prefer solo riding or just can't find anyone to go with from your area, then it's a "get there how you can" thing.
Riders will typically come from many different cities, sometimes states, and I think once a different country (?) to meet the group for lunch and pie.

Several of us from DFW will make it a day trip - that is certainly do-able. Just have to leave early and arrive home late. Watch for details as the 27th gets closer...
---
edit - it is about 185 miles from SW Arlington thru Cleburne and Hico to US281, longer using some more scenic routes. I plan to go this way on the way down and take less straight roads on the way back. Total expected mileage: 400-450

I took a shot at your route and we will probably take a slightly different version of it on the way back.

It looks like:
I20
US67 to Cleburne
SH174 to Meridian
jog to SH6 toward Valley Mills
FM217
FM215
SH36 to Gatesville
US84
FM116 to Coperas Cove
US190 to Lampasas
US281 to Marble Falls
You might consider a couple of changes (especially the second one to bypass Coperas Cove):
I20
US67 to Cleburne
SH174
FM933 to Whitney
SH22 to Laguna Park
FM56 to Valley Mills
jog on SH6 toward Meridian
FM217
FM215
SH36 to Gatesville
US84
FM116 toward Coperas Cove
FM580 to Lampasas
US281 to Marble Falls
230 miles for the first one, 228 for the second.

"Definite Maybe" for me.
I love the idea of making it to Marble Falls for this one, but it's a loooong haul compared to what I've done so far with this bike.
I'll know more tomorrow (maybe) about what it feels like to do several hundred miles in one shot: I'm gonna try to keep up with Soozy for the first toe (can't call it a leg 'cuz I'm only going to the first gas stop) of her rock-star summer tour. :rider:

I are plannin to.
Route down - "fast way" 917/2280/67 to Glen Rose, 67/220 to Hico, then 281 down. Gas stop in Hico or Hamilton. Approx 185 miles from SW Arlington.
The way back will probably be the second route in post #68 but in reverse.
Gas/rest stops in Gatesville and Valley Mills. Approx 200 miles to SW Arl.

You can, but don't have to, bump me up to the "Probable (definite with conditions)" group, Chuck.
The 310 round-trip miles that I rode on Saturday set my mind at ease about *one* condition.
(Specifically, what condition my rear end & nerves would be in after several hours in the saddle!)
The other pending condition has to do with my work schedule.
I'll know more about that in a day or two.

Anyone know of a route from Austin (Bergstrom Airport) to the Cafe for a beginner on a Ninja 250? I will be escorting my girlfriend Julie on her 06 Ninja and myself on my new to me KLX650. I would just say 183 to 1431 but I'm not sure about 1431 for a completely new rider. There is also the option of making a right out our driveway and following 71 ALL the way, but that is a little boring.
Guess I am looking for really easy back roads.

I wouldn't worry about 1431. If you're going the speed limit it's pretty tame. I'd say the traffic until you get past Jonestown is more of an issue than any corners. There are a few tight-ish corners just the other side of Lago Vista, but they're well marked and easy to negotiate.
Just let her follow you and take it slow, you should be fine. Plus, like you say -- unless you want to bore her to tears on 71, you're limited for options.

It's been many bikeless years since my one & only ride on 1431, but this is my (vague) recollection, for whatever it's worth to je2000: Going the speed limit there was (as treybrad said) NOT that big a deal.
What I did find kinda nerve wracking, though, was the faster-than-posted (locals? i dunno) traffic that kept pushing on my rear. So, my suggestion: Let HER go in front with the clear understanding that she should take it as slow as she needs because YOU won't crowd her.

That's not a bad idea. I'm totally fine with the road and have been known to speed on it. But somehow the only times I've been on that road it's an off day and not much traffic.
There is a Austin Marble falls route that starts out by 71 and takes some local roads there and then back on 71 up to Marble falls. The 2nd half takes 1431 then back down to Austin. http://www.sundaymorningrides.com/road/5740645/

Sometimes I can figure out your name from your screenname but sometimes it just has to be an alias (like Kathy Anderson :-P ). So, let me know - you will see what I am using next to the nametag icon by your name in post #1 (assuming I have made it already).
See post #105 for what the nametags will look like. You can also add an avatar by using the "User CP" (user control panel).

Cancellations
Please add me, Tdog, to the cancellation list.
I regret that I have to cancel for the Pie Run tomorrow, June 27th. I was really looking forward to the ride and being there. Maybe next time.

I think I still have my nametag from last time...somewhere.
Add myself and girlfriend "Julie" for the nametags. She hasn't signed up on the site yet. Pick something random for her nametag image if that's ok.

Can I jump in on this one? Who's running over from the Avery Ranch/Cedar Park/Leander/NW Austin area?
How about meeting at the Academy parking lot on 1431 in Cedar Park about 0945 for anyone near Austin that wants to go along. Rhonda will most likely be with me, unless the heat changes her mind, which makes it an at/near the speed limit proposition.

The people riding with me decided it would be to hot for the ride back to Big D. Not wanting to do this by myself, I will have to cancel. I will not be there, but please hold onto my name tag and I will pick it later. Thanks

Well, hate to do this but we will have to cancel. Something has come up and we won't make it after all.
Move voyagerrider & ladyrider to the cancel column. Drink lots of water & stay hydrated.

Chuck,
Save our name tags for next month. I know we are going to Floyd's. I have already requested Vacation days for Friday & Monday.

If you are wondering about the order I am doing the nametags, I grab the ones that have been done before (low hanging fruit), then pairs since I have to print them in 2s. Finally, ones that require research...
And a pox on thee if you change your avatar! :thpt:

We may try and make it there by that time. We'll be coming out from way out east by Bergstrom Airport. Julie a very new beginner on her yellow Ninja 250 and myself on a black KLX650. We'll be taking it easy on 1431.

Found out last evening that I have a conflict on Saturday afternoon. Still have the morning free and will try to cross paths in Hico this morning. Ride save all...:rider:
Rhonda was spooked by the heat index figures, so it's just me.
