The 2009 Popular Photography Contest was advertised in this month's issue.

This was the Grand Prize winner in last year's contest:

Folks, I've seen some your shots and I KNOW there are better ones posted on TwTex than this. The entry fee is only $10 and you can find all the rules and how to submit here: www.popphotocontest.com.

I'd LOVE to see someone from TwTex enter and win this contest. The shot has to be from between September 2008 and September 2009. The deadline to enter is September 12, 2009.

Admittedly, there's some seriously good photography in the contest. But in my opinion, some of what I've seen posted on TwTex is just as good. Of course, I'm not a judge for PopPhoto but from what I've seen, it's all about "unique".

A couple of years ago, the grand prize photo was a series of 3 or 4 shots that were blended together in Photoshop, enhanced, tweaked, etc. It wasn't a photograph, it was a computer-generated image.

Anyway, I'd love to see someone from TwTex at least enter and win in a catagory. I'd consider entering if I could find something unique enough to catch the judges' attention but when they saw it was taken with a P&S digital camera, they'd probably reject it for not spending enough money on equipment, travel and advertising. :lol2:

I can't seem to find the 2009 contest information. From what google is telling me, there's a lot of problems getting this years event off and running, down website, lost pictures and so forth.

Still looking though.......

I'll check my copy of PopPhoto when I get home. That's where I found the link that was posted in the original post. I might have a customer service number I can call and get more details.

Stand by for end-of-day searching.

Here's about the only link I can find. Appears to be several contest types to include shots, post-processing and PhotoShop skills.

This one seems to be a monthly contest with the rules noted below the picture

Yeah, I even checked their website for contact info and didn't find any. I know the magazine has a contact block in there with phone numbers. I'll check into that if I ever get to go home. :zen:

Interestingly enough, there's a forum on their website and just today someone posted asking about the rules for the contest. At the time I looked, there were no replies.

Update:

I checked www.popphotocontest.com and it looks like they may have it updated if anyone's interested in entering. :thumb:

Also, you can see recent submissions at the "latest entries" tab. I'm tellin' ya', there are better photos posted on TwTex!
