Gary P Nunn has a song that explains what he likes about Texas, and I believe we live in the finest state of the union. That said, we have an unlimited number of opportunities to showcase this great State of ours.

Assignment #08 is titled "What I like about Texas". So show us your best interpretation of what it is you like about Texas. This is a fairly broad topic, so the lurkers should be able to participate as well.

I'll be looking for subject matter that screams Texas, combined with good composition techniques and creativity. Color or B&W - it's all good, but no HDR.

All rules apply to include use of this thread for posting shots previously taken, or current shots asking questions, or just talking about the assignment. I'll open up a different post shortly for your actual entry as this seems to work well. Your submission entry HAS to be taken between now and Monday June 29th midnight. A winner will be chosen sometime after midnight Monday the 29th and announced at that time. The winner will then post the next two week assignment topic and so forth.

So let me start with a few to get everyone going.....

Too bad I will not be in my favorite part of Texas during the contest time frame...

That might have given me an advantage...

This one's causing me some brain drain.

I'm a Native Texan and trying to reduce what I like about Texas down to one picture is tough! How do I get Texas attitude, Texas music, Texas scenery, Texas life, Texas courage, Texas history, Texas people, Texas everything in one picture??

I was thinking today that same thought. Trying to reduce to a single picture of what I love about this place is hard. I thought I'd run down to San Antonio for a night shot/no people of the Alamo. Then I figured a nice sunset in the hill country, or a cool stream, or the 6th Street area, or the big old bucks that are shedding velvet.

One picture is difficult, but the topics are tremendous!

Just keep shooting and I'm sure one will jump out at you.
