Wow. Only two entries? Was this one hard to figure out? Was it a no-time to shoot thing? I'd like to hear from everyone.....

Voni-
Great shot! The rolling hills, deep blue skies and white contrast clouds make this a great little slice of Tejas that is near and dear to you. I like the broad spectrum of colors with the greens and yellow flowers too. The little bit of water was a nice touch. Screen saver material. One little thing that draws my eye is the buzzard in the top right. Maybe PS it out or wait until he was somewhere else?

Duke-
Wow as well. Great composition with a wide variety of colors from the setting sky to the lights, water and reflections. It might be my laptop monitor, but it seems like it's a tad bit fuzzy/out of focus or a handheld slow shutter speed shot. I just can't tell. Great photo.

This one is hard to judge because by the nature of the assignment, it's what YOU like about Texas. I know a little more about each of you now as a result.

I've got to go with Voni on this one. They were both excellent shots and you should be proud of the entries.

Voni - You're up!

Both great shots.

Voni, where is that? That is a rare Texas day you caught.

It ended up being a tougher assignment than I thought. I got a couple of nice pics this past weekend on the pie run, but none really said, "Texas" to me. Congrats to the entries on a job well done.

it was both tough, and I just happen to be a bit busy at the moment
It was hard for me to think of what I like best about Texas and then think of someplace to go shoot it, or rather narrow it down to one thing to shoot.
had I had more time this one would have been good, as it would have streched me in thinking about shots and not just pointing at what ever i see

I can't believe someone didn't go with [chicken fried steak/] or [jalapeno cheese burger/].

You know TEXAS is our adopted state, which means we chose it, so despite the stiff competition, I'm especially honored to be selected as the winner ; )

WIDE OPEN spaces are what I love about Texas and this scene fits perfectly. Not exactly my desert home, but the feel of the green prairie north of Amarillo is what I hoped to capture.

Thanks for choosing this topic. I'm loving having an assignment through which to view the world for a couple of weeks.

Hoping you all enjoy the next . . .

Actually, it would have been perfect if in Voni's shot there had been a buzzard column circling some unseen dead thing in the distance :lol2: Both shots are great though!

Scott, my excuse is that my camera has not even been turned on in the last 2-3 weeks because of other time demands. With this particular assignment, I could not narrow down what Texas means to me. That is part of what I like about Texas, it just has such a variety of things to like! I might have been able to put together a portfolio of pics that show what Texas is to me, but it would have been made up of images taken over the last 10 years instead of two weeks ;-)

Way to go Voni :thumb:, looking forward to see what you challenge us to capture next.

As for my shot, I took it while walking (literally) back from swimming after dinner while camping on Inks lake with a few other TWT'ers. It's not what I like MOST about Texas as a whole, but I will tell you that at that moment, the cool water of Inks lake was what I liked MOST about texas at that time. It was only 108 degrees at times riding there from Houston........
