Howdy,

:tab Nolan is one of the kids for whom we are doing the fundraiser ride on Aug 9th. He enjoys reading the comments from people on his family's website. I am starting this thread so that we can leave comments here for him and he can, if possible, make any replies here as well. Here is the link to his website so you can see his daily progress reports.

You can also leave notes for him in the guestbook on his site.

:tab I just wanted to let folks know that Nolan has been having a bit of a rough time the last week or so. If you are the praying type, please keep him and his family in your prayers.

not ready.

Nolan began having seizures Wednesday morning. It was determined that he didn't drink enough water and the alternative medicine caused his sodium levels to skyrocket.

His seizures weren't the grand mal type; his eyes just kept flicking back and forth and then his arms/hands began this twitching tremor thing. But he was unconscious and had to be taken to the hospital via ambulance and didn't wake up until about an hour after his anti-seizure meds were administered.

The absolute worst part was when the infamous only-Kaiser-pediatric-neurosurgeon-in-the-entire-northern-California/souther-Oregon-region stopped by Nolan's bedside and in his usual heart and stomach stabbing way said that Nolan's tumor was very large, his brain is atrophying, and why would I even consider continueing any treatments?

Hello. my baby is right next to you, listening to every word you say. His tumor may be destroying his brain, but *NOT* his mind and that boy is extremely sharp, thank you.

After doctor death left, Nolan asked me:

"What happens if my tumor keeps growing?"

And in an indirect way we began talking about death and the beauty of heaven.

And then he told me he's not ready to go.

I've learned one thing: no matter how close death is, and no matter how much you prepare yourself, and no matter how sick your baby is, no parent is truly ready to let go of their child. Of their suffering, yes. Absolutely. But not of *them*.

From Nolan's Website:

August 24
Nolan's transport to Santa Clara was uneventful, but upon arrival he needed extra help in breathing. His temperature had spiked to 105.4. The wonderful team worked all night and he was stable until 10:00 a.m. Then the alarm went off; Nolan was no longer able to breath on his own. The hospital team helped Nolan to breathe until his dad and siblings arrived at his bedside. At approximately 12:15 this afternoon, our precious little Nolan went to be with Jesus. His passage was peaceful and free from pain or distress.
We thank you all for the many hundreds of prayers that have been lifted up on our behalf. Nolan is now healed!! He is with Jesus in heaven.

I just found this thread, and all I can do, is praise God for the time Nolan had with his family. My prayers are with them, still, as I'm sure they still strugle every day with their grief, tempered as it is, with the joy of knowing Nolan is safe now.

:tab Right now, his mom is going through an UGLY divorce. The hub shacked up with a young girl and has been quite nasty towards the wife during all the stuff with Nolan! On top of that and losing Nolan, she now has to pay off tons of medical bills. Fortunately, she has a good extended family to lean on right now. This is also why I set up the tire raffle to help raise funds to donate to her trust fund for paying the medical bills.

Since my Strom takes funky tire sizes, I'll be selling the tires and giving them back to Nolan.

I HOPE I WIN.
